5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!!!
I really like this album, not for their lyrics, but for their musicianship!!! The guitar riffs courtesy of Kelly McLauchlin and Jerry Mortellaro are impressive. Both are great guitarists, and no talk about Aantar Coates, drummer with great double pedals and extremely tempo changes. The vocals/bass by Paul Oullette fitts the genre really good. Some people said that Unholy...

3.0 out of 5 stars Sick debut album
I know alot of people who are against this band because they see them as a diabolic rip off. Well that is because the whole goddamn band (minus kelly from pessimist) was the force behind diabolic's swan song "vengence ascending", now knowing that much you know what to expect from these guys, brutal, technical death metal, the sound could use a little work in the guitar...

4.0 out of 5 stars Florida Death Metal like Diabolic, April 27, 2004
This review is from: Torrential Reign (Audio CD)
If you like Diabolic you definitely will like Unholy Ghost, not just because ex-Diabolic drummer Aantar Coates plays for Unholy Ghost now, but because they sound very similar. This is pure blackened death metal. If you like blasting death metal with evil lyrics and vocals, and an overall anti-christian attitude you will love this band. Unholy Ghost is not very original, however, and other Florida blackened death metal bands like Morbid Angel and Deicide are still a lot better. This band is about the same as Diabolic, they are both very good bands, but neither of them outshine the other. If you're a death metal diehard you better buy this album, it rips.

Everybody says this is a "Diabolic" ripoff....I wouldn't quite say ripoff as some of Diabolic's original members are the force behind this...yes if you play "Diabolic" back to back with this you will hear no difference...but that could be a good thing as only Brian Malone stuck around to do "Infinity Through Purification" housing 3 other members while Aantar and gang went to do "Blastmasters" and "Unholy Ghost" joining forces with Kelly of "Pessimist". What you have hear is just good old evil FL death metal minus the bs....nice sludgy riffing accomidating Aantar's signature blast beats and strong double bass....as you would with any of "Diabolic's" albums as well....so safe to say if you like "Diabolic" or good old FL death metal you'll probably like this it's heavy, sludgy, claustrophic and evil death metal...but if you like bands like Avenged Sevenfold stay away these guys might scare you.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible, December 14, 2004

This cd really isn't good at all. I am usually not disappointed when I take a risk on a death metal band that I've never heard, but this time I was sorry. These songs are completely pointless, the riffs go nowhere whatsoever. I know people have said that about some of Nile's stuff, but that's different. Nile rules and this band sucks. The drumming sounds sloppy and random to me (and i'm not some death metal illiterate who doesn't understand extreme technicality and labels it as sloppy or random). The lyrics are stupid, the songs are all pretty much the same, and the music isn't even fast! Slow death metal can be good, but if you're going to make generic, pointless, un-catchy death metal than it better be fast! Nothing catches you about this album, it is boring. I have tried to get into it numerous times, I give my albums the benefit of the doubt that I haven't listened to them enough, but after a few minutes i have to take it out. Nothing distinguishes this album or makes you want to listen to it. I don't agree about the diabolic comparisons either, i have infinity through purification and it is way better than this. I'll tell you why they package this with a compilation cd, because no one would want it otherwise. I usually never do this, but i strongly recommend that you do NOT buy this, it really isn't good in any way. The only reason you should buy this is if you are obsessed with death metal and you have every cd ever made and you just have to buy another one because you have too much money and nothing to do with it. Unless that is you, use your money on a better album.
