This is a decent guide for planning a hiking trip to Torres del Paine. It emphasizes the full circuit around the massif. Great if that's your plan, but if you plan to do day hikes, I'd consider another guidebook. I found it poorly organized and lacking in details. One of the most popular hikes in the park, to the Mirador Las Torres, is more difficult than described in the book, which does not clearly show the elevation gain for each hike, or state that the final section of that hike is in fact a fairly steep scramble up and around big boulders.

Excellent guide book: details the trekking circuit of the park, both the complete circuit of 10 days or so and the shorter 'W' circuit of 4 to 5 days. Describes the refugios and the campsites, terrain, weather and everything that a good guide book should do. We are planning an unguided trek of the 'W' circuit and this bok was most helpfull

Enjoyed reading this along the way while trekking the W this past December. It had great descriptions of what you are likely to encounter. The trek was amazing. We stayed in Refugios and kept our gear ultralight. Having this loaded in my feather weight Kindle Touch 3G was key. It gave us something to read before bed at 21:00. Tuckered out after amazing hiking and scenery, oh and a little calafate pisco and beer or Chilean reds... could easily read my non-backlit Kindle because of the long days of their summer. Have a great time and enjoy this amazing trek and amazing world we live in. Cheers!

It's a nice book, and the only one on the market in any case. Helpful for planning your route. Easy to bring it with you, but I don't think that's really necessary as the trail is quite well marked and easy to follow.

While this looks like a great guide overall, it doesn't look like anyone proofread it. Stage 4 of the "W" for Torres del Paine shows it starting at El Chalten (over 100 miles away) and lists the distance as 38 km, maps for Monte Fitz Roy. The overview for stage 4 is obviously in the wrong section!!!
