wow. erotic, romantic and fun!,
By Curious Yellow (Portland, OR) - See all my reviews

This is the first book I've read by Morgan Hawke, but it definitely won't be the last. The sex was hot, the characters were engaging, and the plot was interesting. Usually "erotic" novels (at least for me) are missing at least one out of three of these essential elements, but not here. When the book ended I was REALLY disappointed. I would have been perfectly happy to read at least another hundred pages about their relationship. I highly recommend this book.

hot!,
By Rosie G. "Book Angel" (Hot Town, CA) - See all my reviews

I don't leave many reviews but as a follow-up to a comment made below.... Tempestuous is also m/m. Both books are incredibly hot! Actually, Morgan's "Torrid" was the first strickly m/m I'd read and I found it, interestingly enough, a major turn on! I'm hoping she sets another story with these two guys... especially after the closing pages! Get the book and you'll know what I mean. :) If you like hot erotica, no matter what the mixture, Morgan's books are perfect. The girl has some serious imagination!!!

I'm not going into a long review, but suffice to say, the action was hot, the romance was smooth, and the protagonists were wonderful! I loved both the main characters and couldn't possibly choose a favorite. A striking, if somewhat exhibitionist "uke" and a powerful, demanding "seme" make the most of this book. If you like yaoi/shonen-ai, you will LOVE this! Write more, more, more, Morgan!!

WOW!!!!!!!!,
By cindy "A READER" (toronto, ontario) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Torrid: A Shounen-ai romance (Paperback)
This book was extremely hot!!!!!!!The characters were obviously bisexual and it was a real turn on to read a book where a heterosexual male would consider a sexual relationship with another male. Other than the fact that the book was too short, I loved it!!!

I don't normally read manga or yaoi or Shounen-ai... in fact, I had to look up what most of those words mean! I don't even read m/m stories very often. However I met Morgan Hawke at the RTCon in Daytona Beach this year and adored her, her open and free spirit and decided to take a step outside my comfort zone and read "Torrid." I stayed up until 2 a.m. reading it. I found it erotic, charming, and a VERY well named little book. Very hot, HOT, hot m/m with a delicious sense of humor. The characters were interesting and well formed, with not too much given to us too soon, lots of varied sex without getting too clinical (not easy with two guys).
I'll be looking for more Morgan goodies!

I wanted to give this writer's book another chance, since I found another work of hers to have some good qualities, but some others I did not like much.
I think that now I have read enough to be sure that my opinion is well informed and educated. I am done with this writer's works for the foreseeable future. First of all the title of this book has the word romance in it. I am afraid I must disagree. It is erotica, sure, but romance? Yes, there is plot in there somewhere, but it is so very thin in my opinion. Characters as another reviewer commented have sex all the time. If people think sex in this book is hot, okay to each their own, but I am sorry, where is the building of the relationship?! Actually where IS the relationship??? They meet, they have sex, and after a bit of hesitation on Trey's part, they move in together because Trey realises in a couple of day that he is in love. Who are these two guys? What do they like besides having sex with each other? Thank goodness their professions are at least mentioned, but who are they as people?

Torrid by Morgan Hawke,

Trey is a dance instructor. He is an handsome guy, not very physically impressive but with a nice body. Long blond hair, lean body and cute spectacles. He is the right choice as stripper for a bachelorette party. Doesn't matter he has never do that before, he knows how to dance and it's enough. He only needs a g-string and all is perfect.
At the sexy shop he meets Kenshin, a martial arts teacher. Trey is not gay, but this guy is hot and he has no intention to going in that shop again, so a bit of flirting doesn't harm nobody. But Kenshin is not a man you can dump, and when he meets again Trey accidentally at the bachelorette party, in no way he let go the guy again. A classical yaoi situation, even if Trey is not a helpless boy who needs someone who takes care of him. He is an independ guy who happens to be attract to a guy for the first time in his life. And this particularly guy is not used to be denied. Kenshin is very good in seducing Trey both with gentleness than with strong hands; he has no problem to use is undoubtely stronger body to win the resistance of this beautiful boy and conquers all of him, heart and body. The seduction's scene is very arousing and very explicit. But even if Kenshin is a little bit forceful, you have also the knowledge that Trey is consenting and enjoys every moment of it. The story is rather short and the plot simple and smooth, but still the book is very enjoyable.

A Teens Review,
By Momose Momose "MANGAFANATIC" (Monroe, OR USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Torrid: A Shounen-ai romance (Paperback)
I got this book because I was looking for a well writen yaoi manga not a novel with badly developed characters and almost no plot. The two main characters are constantly having sex and dont really have any other relationship between them. the few parts in the book without sex are just leading up to more of it and are badly written and short (not to mention shallow).
There was one part that was almost well writen and ,yes, the sex is erotic if crude. However some of the phrases are used over more than once and it gets motonous. When l got "Torrid" l got it partially for the erotica but mostly because the reviews said it was well written but the plot lacked depth and so did the people in it and their relationship. The only reason l gave it two stars rather than one is because at least it was erotic if not well written.

I had very high hopes for this story, but I was greatly dissapointed. First of all the book is the size of your palm you can fit in your back pocket. The story was pretty fresh, but had many gaps. It felt not like an actual book, but something I'd find in fictionpress six chapters of flat storyline and one dimensional characters. There was no growth within the plot. I was dissapointed and felt as though I'd been ripped off. No one should buy this book for less than five dollars any higher and you're getting ripped.

I'm all for M/M romances, but perhaps this book's description was misleading. This is a tiny (literally) fictionalized manga novel with one main character (the dance guy) mostly clueless about everything, and the other character (the overbearing guy) totally on fast forward, need-to-mate mode for the main guy. Ms. Hawke has the ability to tell a story, but this was just too absurd for me. I did finish reading it (all 100+ pages) but it definitely is not a keeper.
