  • The Original Tortle Head Repositioning Beanie is designed to help mom's reposition their baby's head to prevent or treat mild to moderate flat head syndrome.
  • To help prevent flat head syndrome, we recommend all babies wear a Tortle at least 8 hours per day during their first 6 months. He/she will need a Small, Medium, and Large to keep up with their rapid growth.
  • To properly use the Tortle, you must pull the beanie down as far as possible so the crown of the head fits into the top of the beanie and ears are covered. The beanie can be folded in the front to avoid covering baby's eyes.
  • Tortle repositioning beanies have an opening along the seam to add a decorative headwrap and flower to accessorize your beanie.

Product Description

Size: 2-4 Months/10-15 LBS | Color: Classic White

Repositioning is recommended for all newborns; every baby is at risk for developing Flat Head Syndrome, plagiocephaly or torticollis. Because baby's skulls are soft, yet heavy and necks are weak, infants are vulnerable to developing these conditions in the first few months of life. This is why, proper movement and deliberate repositioning of your infant from birth is one of the key's to the healthy development of your baby. Tortle is a simple, comfortable beanie that is FDA cleared to help prevent and treat Flat Head Syndrome (plagiocephaly and torticollis). To properly use the Tortle, you must pull the beanie down as far as possible so the crown of the head is fitted into the top of beanie and ears are covered. If beanie is covering baby's eyebrows, you can fold the front of the beanie. It is recommended that the Tortle is used from birth to 6 months.

It was way too small for my baby's head and he is a preemie.

Even though the packaging says that it fits babies between 0 and 4 months, it did not fit my 12 week old's head.

The Tortle worked very well for us. Our Son had a flat spot on the right side of his head. The Physician gave us until the six month mark to correct it, or he would need a helmet. He was four and a half months when we started using it. Other reviewers reported that their child just turned their head within that hat, so we bought the medium size so it would be snug enough that he couldn't move his head within the hat. We mostly used it while he slept. Did it come off, yes. Every night he would wiggle it off, but it did stay on for several hours at a time, and that was several precious hours of NOT being on the flat spot. We just would put it back on whenever we checked on him in the night. The more we used it, the more he got used to it and the less he rolled to the flat spot when he didn't have the hat on. He is five months and one week today and the flat spot is almost completely gone. I am thrilled that he will not need a helmet. I definitely recommend this product.

My child was developing a flat spot on the right side of her head. No matter how much I repositioned her she would go right back. I got the hat in hopes to keep her off the right side as much as possible during the day. I tried all sizes but my child hated it. She screamed every time it was on her head.

This is NOT FDA APPROVED! It states FDA "cleared" specifically because it is NOT approved, but is on its target list (I checked it recently) and I tried this out with my daughter and it is the cheapest piece of crap. I can't imagine anyone taking this seriously as a device to help plagiocephaly.

Our son was sleeping all the time on one side, and getting a flat spot there. This little hat really cleared that up. Its such an elegant, easy low tech solution!

The hat is cute and seems to work with forcing her head to one side or the other. It also doesn't seem to bother her!

Great idea. My son never kept this on. He wore it for maybe 20 seconds. In my opinion I would get this for a newborn as a preventative measure, not for a 4-5-6 month old who is going to tear the hat off as soon as you get it on. My son's head was more uneven that flat, and it eventually fixed itself once he started to sit up.

Unless we find a safe way to attach this to the baby's head, this is the most useless invention. The idea is good on paper, but did they really think that a stretchy fabric on a baby's head will stay in place? Don't waste your money.
