So it IS pretty fun and quick to get into. NOT deep or involved like similar pirate games. GREAT if you just want to jump in and start the PIRATE life of sinking ships and swordfights. Great range of simple to harder. WONDERFUL if you're not quite the TRADER type and you DON'T care to dawnce with any Governor's daughter. The only supplies you buy are the ones for your health/protection and/or that of your ship. I think it's a GREAT game and really liked it. A tiny bit jumpy sometimes. The storyline is fun, the voice acting is better than a lot of more expensive games. Just a great game overall with decent replayability. I bought a few others and haven't gotten @ to them yet. When I DO, I'll let you know.

This game definitely has its moments. The graphics are terrific which makes the battles VERY fun. The storyline is quite predictable and the accents are dumb, but at least the characters speak unlike Sid Meyers where they actually use gibberish. The only REAL complaint is that there is no freedom. You have to do the missions. In that respect, Sid Meyers Pirates is better.

I was disappointed to find that my ship could sail directly into the wind--no sailing skills required. This is probably a welcome feature for those who don't know anything about sailing, but it is one of the features of Pirates! that keeps me going back for more. The strategy of battling in wooden ships requires getting the "wind gage" for a maneuvering advantage over the enemy.
Other than that, there's a lot to like about this game.

This is a game about pirates and you play a swashbuckling hero on both land and sea missions, + shuttle craft Galleo(lol = dingy) it is very fun and exillerating until one dampening element, an "instant mission failure" when you try and take the Hawkwind from Blackbeard and are forced back on your "dingy" after a difficult battle aboard the Hawkwind(and on Captain or Admiral difficulty, you can understand my frustration) you are awarded no save except an "autosave" that states "mission failure"(chapter 3-3) the instant you set out on your dingy after getting the boot from Captain Blackbeard. Supposed to be "Blackbeard betrayed you and you must avoid his ship before it heads full mast to gun you down" instead(sometimes, quite frequent) you will get "mission failure" five seconds after the "mission" starts. W.A.B.!!! J.F.C.!!! W.T.F.!!! B.S.L.!!!

Technical:
Had no problems on Win 7-64 Length: 12 hours Summary: Imagine watching the next Pirates movie, except that you step in and manage the swordfights and ship battles. Throw in a few stealth missions, and that's the game. It's derivative beyond belief, including a drag-queen renegade pirate, a sword wielding governor's daughter, a ghost ship crewed by lost souls . . . you get the idea. Good: - Story holds your interest - Ship battles are fun and interesting, albeit sometimes lengthy Bad: - Story sometimes doesn't make sense (think the two Depp sequels) - Click-fest swordfights are repetitious Conclusion: Professional critics hated this game, and probably for good reason. The gameplay isn't exactly cutting edge, to put it mildly. However, I enjoyed playing the game. If you liked the Depp movies, it's worth a look.

The game is good at all, but the grafic while you control the ship is not so good, but the time on land is even more fun than a lot of other games.

Tortuga is a amazing game you play as a pirate named Hawk and you used to be a part of Black Beards crew but you sneak off the ship and take back your ship the Hawkwind and you meet a girl that you fall in love with. But you get to comand your ship and take down black beard and the English and the Spainish.
