A SOARING Tosca, March 18, 2004

I bought this recording for my favourite tenor, José Carreras, a few years ago. This was when I discovered the FABULOUS Raina Kabaivanska who's now my second favourite Tosca after the never equalled Callas. Kabaivanksa had the sumptuos quality of Price, the drama of Olivero and the technical perfection of Callas plus dramatic abilities that shine in her exquisite recording of Tosca's prayer, "Vissi d'arte". There is also a video of Tosca with her, Domingo and Milnes. Buy this too!
Young Carreras sings an ardent Cavaradossi, perfect from beginning to end. Bruson is never a dirty-minded lecher but an "aristocrazic" villain. PERFECT!!!!!
