This is a good, general use 15" LCD/DVD combo. The resolution is very good and hooked up to my cable provider (Comcast), the programs come in with good color, saturation, contrast, and brightness. Out of the box, setup was a snap. The factory default settings especially for "picture" were on the low side and required some boost to get a very acceptable picture. The audio is substantial and not overwhelming. It is quite enough to fill a room. The DVD works as it should and is very quiet and smooth upon inserting and ejecting a disc. CD's and CD-R's all played without a hitch. Build quality is above average and the unit looks good and appears able to withstand a few knocks here and there. The remote controls are simple and changing your parameters is easy and fast using the intuitive on-screen menu system. Changing channels is almost instantaneous with only the very slightest delay. There is nothing here to WOW you, but the set does provide a very nice feature set, a DVD player that is quiet and works well, and a picture quality that is better than most I've seen in this category. The price, I feel, is a bit on the high side but overall it does present a nice package with the DVD player. It would be a great set for a bedroom, dorm room, or kitchen. I am pleased with my purchase and Amazon did a great job getting me the set within two days.

We were looking for something to replace a conventional 13" tv for the kitchen. Originally, we were going to get an under cabinet tv/radio combo, but for the difference in size and quality, there was no comparison. We removed the stand and mounted it on a wall mount - the manual says nothing about being able to do this, but it works fine, and the unit has predrilled holes that fit standard mounts.Great picture, good sound, dvd player works great. Only down-side is that all the controls are on the top of the tv, so when mounted, they're out of reach. So the remote is a must. Over all,we are very satisfied with this tv.

Yes there were some less expensive 15" LCD's with DVD out there, but after checking numerous web sites and reviews, Toshiba came out on top. I would have to agree with the reviews. My wife and I purchased this for our 19 yr. old daughter. We are all quite impressed with the quality of the picture and sound. Easy to operate. I simply hooked up the cable wire and turned it on. DVD works quite well. No adjustments needed. Light weight. The remote is easy to use. May get another, larger Toshiba LCD/DVD for our bedroom.

My wife insisted upon having a flat panel (or as she calls it "flat screen") tv to replace the 14" CRT tv on one of our kitchen counters. She, also, wished to have a DVD player if possible (for her Narnia and animal DVDs). My wife is technophobic. She doesn't like dealing with anything electronic or computer. I searched high and low for a flat panel tv with a built-in DVD player. After seeing a few and reading many reviews on such units I found this Toshiba. It was extremely easy to set up (basically connect the power and signal cables and turn it on). The DVD player is just as easy to use with the remote control or the buttons on top of the tv. The picture quality is very good (great brightness, contrast and colors). The audio is OK for such a unit with relatively small speakers, but definitely adequate. For those who want the "big sound" there is a coax digital output for connecting to a 5.1 surround sound system with subwoofer if desired. The unit is aesthetically appealing, too, and the price was great. My wife says she loves it. I asked her "why"? She said "because I can work it". I asked her about the picture and general appearance of the unit. She said "that's all icing on the cake". She loves it! And I do too.

I paid almost $600 for the 14" version of this TV last year, and liked it fine until the DVD player (lightly used) eject function failed. The 1 year warranty has expired, and Toshiba customer service tells me it will be $350 to remove my DVD and repair the player. Check out Consumer Reports and you will find that Toshiba has a terrible customer service record on their TVs, even when the warranty is in effect. If you must have one, I recommend an extended warranty at the least.

I love this TV. It's a perfect size, the picture is great ... sound is decent. Perfect for a small room such at for a bedroom TV. I really have no complaints. Having the DVD in the TV is awesome. The only complaint [and it's not the Toshiba's fault] is that my Cox remote doesn't work with it - seems that all universal remotes have trouble with all TV/DVD combo units. Just a case of technology not catching up with itself yet. So, it's a bit of a pain to always fumble with 2 remotes - but, other than that, I love it.

We have had this combo since 2006 and it was purchased for our young daughters' bedroom. The picture quality is good on DVD's and standard quality for standard cable. The sound is great for their room which measures 15 by 8. Now onto the very very bad....For the last year it has started acting up... you will insert a DVD and it will not read it. At first you think that there is something wrong with your DVD until you realize that it is a brand new one. Then we realized that it wouldn't read any burned formats either. We came to realize that this player only likes "Disney" & Spongebob movies. And that is fine until your fighting 2, 4 & 5 year old want to watch something like the Garfield movies or "The Last Unicorn". We called Toshiba and they had us reset it and it magically played the movie. They specifically stated that if the reset doesn't work then it is busted. So we discovered that the reset does work, but only temporarily. So every night, my poor husband has to sit there and reset, and wait and reload for their movies to play. The moral of the story is that this combo pretty much sucks... doesn't have any life. The kids view it every night. I guess if you will be viewing a movie a day then this player/combo isn't for you, or us for that matter. 3 stars for the little time that it did work. |
