The Toshiba LCD TV/DVD set had great possibilities for our RV. The picture was great...then its downfall...In turning the volume up to its highest setting "50" it was still hard to hear even when sitting two feet from the screen. We tried a couple of DVD's with no luck. Same low volume on an otherwise stunning pictured LCD TV set...Returning it tomorrow with Amazon's foolproof buyers satisfaction guarantee...If you want to hook it up to a sound system you might be very satisfied with it...we just don't
have room in our RV for that type of hookup...

I purchased this TV after reading the reviews of poor volume. Well, the reviews were right on. The highest volume level is still quite low. Luckily this TV is for my bedroom only and I only watch it alone, so the volume really hasn't prohibited me from hearing my TV/DVDs quite well. I wouldn't recommend it for a large room or for a room near another sound source. The picture is beautiful and the remote and set-up are very user friendly. If you don't need loud volume then this TV is fine. I really like mine. Best of luck in finding the TV that's right for you!

We just got the TV last week and have not used it too much yet, but so far it seems like a good little TV. The volume seems o.k. when it is on the TV setting (20 to 25 is o.k.), but when we put a DVD in we had to turn it up all the way to 50 for the volume. We are going to use it for our exercise room right in front of the elliptical machine, so I don't think it will be a problem. The picture is great and it is easy to set up and to operate the DVD.

Things I love about this TV:

It's extremely portable. I moved recently and don't know how long I'll be in my new apartment, so this TV/DVD combo was exactly what I was looking for.

The DVD/TV combination is very convenient and saves space!

For the price, this is a great deal, especially since Toshiba is a trustworthy brand in electronics.



Things I don't love:

Unlike other reviews, I haven't had an issue with my set not having enough volume, but I've noticed that when I put in a DVD, the volume automatically lowers control about 10 notches.

The TV's control buttons are on the side of the TV, which makes them hard to read sometimes to find out which button is which. I usually use a remote, but I have a habit of losing it around the apartment, so it would be nice if the TV's controls were in the front.

There's some noticeable lag time between changing channels and turning on the TV. This doesn't bother me so much, but it's worth mentioning.

Also, every time you insert a DVD, you have to readjust the screen width. I have my TV permanently set on one of the theatre widescreen settings, and every time I put in a DVD it goes back to fullscreen.

Great TV! I'd buy it again. I read a lot of reviews complaining about the volume of the TV. I almost didn't buy it due to those reviews. But I did buy it and the volume is just fine! The TV is in a high traffic area, the kitchen and dinning room with 2 kids! Great Tv at a great price!!

Basic features yet Toshiba quality and remote on this HDTV with a built in side DVD player. I found the sound to be fine; there is output for headphones or digital audio out if you want more. Stable base and simple to set up. Solid product.

Color & picture outstanding. No problem with sound. My hearing is 20-20. Got mine from Costco for a little more only because of their return policy.
Worried about users' concerns but Toshiba quality is rather VG. Replaced my older Toshiba 20 with DVD. What a difference!!!!!
Perfect Kitchen TV!!!!

I purchased this for use in our exercise room. We did not buy it to watch a lot of network television, but I do watch it if I am riding my bike on my trainer sometimes. We mostly use it for yoga DVD's, cycling DVD's and similar. Picture quality is fine and like other reviewers the sound quality, though good, is marginal when it comes to how loud you can turn it up. I can do yoga at about 60% volume, but if I am on my trainer, I need the volume at 100% to overcome the trainer noise if I have a DVD in.

Before I bought this TV, I checked the reviews other had written. I noted the issue people had with the long delay in switching channels, but since I'm not a channel surfer, and mostly watch DVDs, this was OK with me. I also read about the problems with low sound, but I looked up the product specs and saw that it had an earphone port. The sound issues turned out to be true - turned up to maximum volume of 50 and still hard to hear while cooking and watching. Plugged a set of computer speakers into the earphone port and sound is very acceptable. The one thing I did not expect was the electrical interference with my nearby radio. I have to either unplug the TV or move the radio to a far side of the room.
Portability is great! Pedestal easily folds flat and I can carry it under my arm and walk down the street to watch DVDs with a neighbor.

Purchased this Toshiba TV/DVD fro my kitchen, after reading many negative and positive reviews online. The label on the back states it was manufactured October-2009. Most reviews talked about poor sound quality, or insufficient loudness, etc. To my surprise, (still don't know why others did not like the sound), I find myself watching it with the sound level between 5 and 10 (max. is 50). In other words, the sound is great, it is loud, even with DVD's. You can adjust bass, treble and bring them to their highest levels, then the sound really gets better. Of course you cannot expect theater like sound from a little TV, but overall I think it is more than enough for a kitchen, bedroom. The built-in DVD player is designed such that it does not stick out in the back, you cannot tell that it has DVD player. Picture quality is also great. There is slight lag time when switching between channels, but that might be due to digital reception, not a concern for me.
