Great Tv!! A++++,
By
This review is from: Toshiba 24AF43 24" Flat Screen TV (Electronics)
I bought this tv, and am extremely satisfied with it so far. I actually went to Best Buy, and got it for $329.99 less 10% Sale equals around $297.00 I got the 4 year product replacement service plan, they have it for a very reasonable $29.99. The picture on this tv and the looks and the sound and all it's features are just awesome, especially for the price. I have read other reviews of those who don't care too much for the remote control. I think the remote is great! It isn't too big, it is very clearly laid out, and simple to understand, not too many buttons, and the buttons kind of glow in the dark. Don't get the Sony 24". After reading some professional reviews on it, it isn't nearly the quality of picture, even though it is the trinitron flat tube. Don't get me wrong, I generally love Sony, I even have it for my main living room TV, a 36-inch Wega trinitron flat screen. We love it as well. Maybe Sony just can't get the 24" Tv right, I don't know, but I listened to the reviews I read online, and I couldn't be happier with this Toshiba. Also, I have great experience with Toshiba. We bought a Toshiba FST flat screen 20-inch TV about 15 years ago. My son now has it, and it still is working fantastic, and has a great picture as well. I really couldn't be happier with this new 24" Toshiba. I most highly recommend it. I also now just ordered the Toshiba SD-V391 Progressive Scan DVD-VCR Combo to go with this tv for a great price right here at Amazon, for only $137.94, free shipping! Get it if you already don't have a dvd player!! It is rated extremely high as well, as far as combo units go. I am looking forward to getting it and hooking it up to this Tv. Hope this review helps your decision making. The only thing is, I went out and bought it at Best Buy, to have peace of mind if anything went wrong with it, I could just bring it in and they would take care of it, for just 29.99, for 4 years coverage.

Best TV for Me,
By Tyler (Denton, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Toshiba 24AF43 24" Flat Screen TV (Electronics)
I bought this TV in November 2003 at a local BestBuy for $320 so I have had considerable time to test it out. I previously had a 20" Sony WEGA, but it had a problem where red lines would be visible across the screen. PICTURE - 5/5 I found the initial picture settings to be less than optimal. I changed the settings to something like this...beginning with Contrast and going downward ending at Sharpness mine goes 40, 20, 40, 0, 60. This provides the best picture you can get out of this set in my opinion. In a dark room the blacks will be true black instead of having a blueish-tint with the initial settings. I have my Nintendo Gamecube hooked up with S-Video and the game text and images are really sharp, providing a definite step-up from composite. My JVC DVD player is hooked up through component with even more amazing clarity. I find the ColorStream setting is best on DTV instead of DVD. SOUND - N/A I recommend getting a cheap home theater set-up (I have the Sony HT-DDW750, a very good complete system with DTS, Pro Logic II and Digital decoding) as it makes all the difference as far as audio goes. I used the speakers on the TV for a little while and found them to be quite adequate. The voices were clear with the BBE setting and music was alright. EASE OF USE - 4/5 I hardly need to use the TV remote as my others have taken its place. I have had no trouble at all with this remote. However, I do switch video inputs very often and need to use the TV/VIDEO button frequently. It would be nice if the TV had this button on the set itself to change between Video 1, 2, 3 and ColorStream. The menus are basic and easy to understand and settings can be accessed very quickly. CONCLUSION I am very satisfied with this TV. I needed a smaller set for my room and this has been perfect. If you go to the store and check TVs in this size range, you will see that this one is just as sharp as the Sony and JVC (and blows away all the rest), costs less and has all the same features and more.

The Toshiba 24 inch flat screen TV is a winner!!!Easy to set up,very good remote, excellent picture and great sound.I purchased one for the bedroom, and now will purchase a second one for the den.It took a lot of searching on the web and in many stores to find a set that met our requirements for excellence...but this set exceeds them. We're pleased with this low-cost, high-quality TV!,

Before this Toshiba purchase, my wife and I hadn't shopped a TV for at least 12-years. Our last purchase was for a 27" Sony ($899 + tax) set. During this recent hunt, however, we were simply amazed at the sound and picture quality that could now be had for only a fraction of what we previously paid! While shopping, we had to decide whether to purchase this Toshiba model, or a very similar (but higher priced) Sony. Drawing from experience, we knew we'd be pleased with the Sony, but the overall differences didn't warrant the Sony purchase.What we liked: 1. Great picture and sound What we didn't like (or thought odd): 1. Hand-held remote control not very responsive. It sometimes takes several hard button presses to achieve wanted action. Overall, with the little annoyances aside, we're quite pleased with this Toshiba offering.

Great TV,

I did ALOT of comparison shopping before I purchased this one. I was looking at a Samsung and also a JVC. The JVC and Samsung had way too many problems. This TV is by far the best. It has all the inputs that you could ever want. Component video and it also has the convenient front jacks. If you buy this TV and have a DVD player with component video output, no questions asked, you have to use it. The picture quality and clarity is unbelievable. You'll think you were watching a $2500 plasma. The 16:9 ratio is pretty cool too. Makes it look like you've got a widescreen. The TV audio also has a surround sound setting that will simulate surround sound from the 2 stereo speakers. In addition to that, it is BBE equipped. The BBE provides crystal clear treble to make dialogue easy to understand. Of course, it has the ability to adjust the bass and balance as well. You can also program channel names so that they appear on the screen. So if you program your ESPN channel number to display ESPN, it will. You don't have to sit there and wait to find out if you're on the right channel. The only bad thing that I read about it and have experienced myself is the range of the remote control. You literally have to point it directly at the TV for it to work. But the pros of the remote greatly out-weigh that little set back. It is an universal remote that you can program to run your DVD player, VCR, and even surround sound receiver. If you're not sure yours will be compatible, just go to the Toshiba website and download the manual and check. This is a great bonus, that keeps you from fumbling around with 5 different remotes. I purchased this TV around Super Bowl time and wanted to wait a month or so to make sure it wasn't a lemon. I've had it since then and it's been amazing. The price it reasonable for quality flat-tube TVs. Sure you can go to wal-mart and get a 27" Sanyo for about $200, but it won't have half the features this one does. Also, if you buy it online, make sure you buy it from amazon.com and not target.com. With amazon.com, you can get free shipping that will save you nearly $60. They say shipping will take up to 2 weeks, but I had mine within 5 days (business day) of ordering. I definetly recommed this TV. You won't be disappointed.

Won't buy anything but a Toshiba!,

This is our third Toshiba -- our 32" is 10 years old and works GREAT! We bought this 24" from Best Buy to replace a 20" Toshiba we received as wedding gift in 1991 (only because we couldn't see the scrolling at the bottom that all the newscasts now use). This is in our bedroom and it is AWESOME! I love watching it -- the pictures & sound are amazing. Friends of ours bought this one in 36" and it is just as amazing, and better! Bottom line: good, solid television that will provide years of use. Hope to purchase the 36" sometime in the next year! :)

Defective product,
This review is from: Toshiba 24AF43 24" Flat Screen TV (Electronics)
Upon reading the reviews, I thought that this was the perfect tv for a 2nd home. When I went to hook up a combination DVD/VCR to the tv, I was having problems with the sound from the DVD player. I had to connect the sound into two different input jacks to get sound from the DVD portion AND the VCR portion of the combo player. Later, I realized when I was trying to connect the satellite, the entire back panel where the inputs go was defective. In other words, there must have been a loose connection.Long story short, I had to jerry-rig the inputs to get adequate sound from all sources. This tv is in a location that is rather a pain in the neck to try to get fixed so, I'm kinda stuck with it. As for the picture, it's pretty good for a relatively inexpensive set.

Great TV but no remote control,

I was very impressed by the great picture and sound except that the remote control is missing. Since there is no TV/VIDEO button on the TV set itself, I cannot watch DVDs with this nice TV. This is hilarious, isn't it?
