5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful TV, June 20, 2005
By
This review is from: Toshiba 24AF45 24" FST Pure Flat Screen TV (Silver) (Electronics)
Toshiba and Sony make the best TVs out there, although my Toshiba products have always lasted longer than my Sonys. I have had this TV for 6 months now.

Pros:
1) Beautiful picture
2) Great sound
3) The 16:9 mode displays movies beautifully. This is a necessary feature unless you rarely watch movies, it uses the entire 480 lines of horizontal resolution to display the movie, most TVs use 20% of the display to show the black bars, while this tv compactifies the resolution to the middle of the TV
4) Audio out so you can run everything through a stereo
5) Comb filter on the RF input which somehow makes your cable tv look sharper. Necessary feature if you watch much cable.

Cons:
The remote is pretty busy, its hard to find things fast, and I always confuse the volume and channel up/down buttons, which means I accidentally flip channels sometimes.

FYI: When I bought the TV I was under the impression that one could have cable plus 5 devices, but you are limited to cable plus 3. This is because 4 of the rear video inputs (2 composite, 1 component, and 1 S-video) share 2 audio inputs. (In addition, you can attach cable tv in the back and there is one composite with audio connection in the front).

5.0 out of 5 stars really great for the price, December 2, 2005
We have had mitsubishi and panasonic tv's in our house and we are still pleased to say that this little toshiba is better than you think and compares well. It is perfect for a room 12 x 17 feet and delivers a sharp picture. Although it is not an HDTV, you can tell the difference between an anolog broadcast and the shows you get on dish because the resolution can be that good on this little set. The BBE and 10 watt stereo is better than most, but it has only a modest bass\trebble equilizing. At this price range, Samsung makes the best sound, but the Toshiba has the best picture. Which you will see if you go to 4 stores and compare like we did. This set is everything the Sony wega sets with BBE are for a hundred or more dollars less. Great menu. Super glow in the dark remote. But the install book really is bad. Leaves out some essentials, like that you need to push a tiny little input button to get anything except air. Silly book writers. Buy this set over the Sony Wega, but if sound is critical go with the Samsung 24 inch set.
