Before purchasing this LCD TV/DVD combo I did quite a bit of research. During that time I found two 24" models from Toshiba. What I wanted to know was what the differences were between the two. I noticed that this model wasn't as common as the Toshiba 24SLV411U 24-Inch 1080p LED-LCD HDTV with Built-in DVD Player, Black which have had many reviews. After some in depth research I found out some of the differences between this model and the other more common one. Keep in mind this is a LCD TV/DVD combo with an LED backlight.

One of the features "missing" from this model is a dedicated yellow composite video jack on the back which personally I don't have a need for. Keep in mind the composite video functionality is still there but it uses the Green jack instead of having a dedicated yellow jack. What this means is if you use the Green jack for composite video, your RGB component input cannot be used for another device. It's either composite or component but not both. The other difference is in the sound system. This model has the better sound processing via Audyssey's audio technologies which includes Dynamic EQ and ABX. This model also feature Toshiba's Dynamic Picture Mode which "creates the right amount of "pop," and provides more colors, finer details, less visual noise and brighter, realistic pictures." Interestingly on Toshiba's website both models have the same MSRP.

I chose this model over the other because of the Audyssey sound processing and a lower price bonus. I didn't see any benefit in paying more for the other model and getting less features and one added feature (a dedicated composite video input jack) that I didn't have a use for.

This is amazing for only $260 you get a amazing hd tv that is quick and looks great. It has holes for 2 hd cables,1 component cable,pc cable, audio cable and usd cable. It will not work with composite cables I know this because I bought this to replace my standard tv which was hooked up with only composite cables so this did not work with anything I had but it has a built in DVD player and I switched my DVR to hd so everything works.
Update: it works with composite cables you just have to go to settings and switch it from color stream to av cable.

Bought this unit for a beach cabin and have had several comments on ease of use from guests and staff. The guests push all the remote control buttons on directv remote, then complain "the tv don't work". Have had no such problems with this tv yet. Picture is good and my only complaint would be the time to turn on is a bit longer than the old cathode tube tv this replaced, a few seconds till picture appears, no big deal. The tv is a very good value and will be purchasing a couple more very soon.

For only the second time in over 10 years of buying electronics items from Amazon did I receive a product that was Dead On Arrival (the first was the original Macbook Air from 2008). I was able to get audio from the Toshiba but not a glimmer of illumination. Reluctant to proclaim the set rather than its new owner at fault, I fiddled with it for an additional two hours--hitting the "Source" button on the remote, feeding it a couple of DVDs (one advantage of a combo set--it can easily be tested without reliance on an antenna or cable connection). Finally, I made a call to the 800 "Help" number included in Toshiba's set-up sheet. No answers. No problem. I went into my Amazon orders, clicked on Return/Exchange, selected Exchange, and Amazon shipped out the replacement TV the next day while arranging for a pick-up of the dysfunctional set. Not so much as a print-out required of me.

I can't deny that I momentarily considered a set other than this Toshiba--but for no longer than a moment. Toshiba remains the only major manufacturer in this corner of the market--still producing small screens and combo sets. You'll find familiar "brand names" (Sylvania, RCA, GE, Magnavox, Westinghouse, etc.) that Asian manufacturers now attach to the low-priced "generic" sets as well as a cast of continually changing, less familiar names (Hitaker, Naxa, Sceptre, Orion, Insignia, Coby, Haier)--some priced as much as $100 below this Toshiba. But before being tempted, take note of the quality and number of customer reviews for the less expensive models compared to the Toshiba, then consider the following: 1.

Overall the product is decent, but the channel return button doesn't work if "Any" menu bar is still up on the screen, like the volume bar, info bar, etc. It will sit frozen until the volume bar disappears before you can switch back to the previous channel. Also, when switching channels with the channel button, the channel you are on will stay for 3-5 seconds before changing to your chosen channel. When you turn on the tv, it is slow and the dvd player turns on and makes the whining/running sound while the tv turns on slowly, which I've never experienced with any of the other manufacturers before, so I'm not sure if this is a flaw or just the way this tv operates. Sound is pretty good, not Samsung of course, but way better than Walmart's Proscan brand or Insignia Brand through BestBuy.
NO Channel ADD/Delete---A must for me, as I don't like the favorites lists. I have to remove all of the Spanish channels, government access, local county garbage, shopping networks, etc. Can't believe Toshiba didn't include channel add/delete in this day and age. Will "definitely" check for that first on the next tv.
