Continuing to up the ante in feature-packed affordable televisions, Toshiba's 27-inch 27A34 offers a high-contrast FST Black picture tube, MTS stereo sound with dbx noise reduction and 2.5 watts per channel--not to mention a host of inputs including standard RF (for antenna, VCR, or cable box) all the way to high-resolution component-video (for DVD players, satellite receivers, and digital video recorders).
The 27A34 offers picture-enhancing technology, too--its digital comb filter and vertical contour correction further enhance resolution by removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped T-shirt).
You get 2 sets of rear audio/video inputs (2 composite-video inputs with accompanying stereo RCA analog audio inputs) and 1 each S-video and ColorStream component-video inputs and a rear AV output so you can hook the set up with a surround receiver (or feed your DVR). A set of front AV inputs simplifies hookup with a camcorder, digital camera, or gaming console. The 27A34 also features V-Chip parental controls, channel lock, video lock, GameTimer, a sleep timer, and a glow-in-the-dark TV remote control.

Excellent Analog TV,

2004 model of last year's 27A33 which received rave reviews. Quality TV with high end features at an outstanding price ($229.00 at Best Buy)-bought to replace 27" Sony 2 months ago while waiting for the 2006 HDTV situation to evolve. Picture quality and clarity are excellent; colorstream component video produces HDTV quality DVD's and highly recommend purchasing component video cables; sound/stereo quality is adequate/good but a non-issue as this TV is running through Onkyo/Polk stereo system for theater quality sound. Highly recommend.

I bought this TV to replace a 25 inch Magnavox in my bedroom. Space was a critical issue as my stand would only accept a certain footprint.
I put the Toshiba in and attached my satellite receiver to it by the S-video cable and away we went. Great, bright picture that is very clear and sharp. I am not using the speakers as I have a JVC receiver and small 3-way speaker system in the room. In any event, an excellent buy. I paid $229 at Best Buy. The Toshiba brand is known for durability. I own four now and have had problems with none of them...
