The 27HL95's video is powered by the PixelPure AT digital video processor, which offers motion adaptive de-interlacing, adaptive MPEG processing, and adaptive contrast and color enhancement for a consistently high picture quality. The HD Dynamic Contrast feature increases Contrast and Color Saturation to create deep, rich images, analyzing both the dark and bright areas of the picture, and separately optimizing the dynamic range in each area of the picture.
The 27HL95 has a widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio--perfect for high-definition telecasts and DVD movies--1280 x 720-pixel resolution, fast 12 ms (millisecond) response time, wide 176-degree viewing angle, 500 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) brightness rating, and amazing 900:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) It supports 720p (HDTV), 480p (EDTV), and 480i (SDTV) video formats.
The 3D Y/C digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time, to reduce dramatically edge image artifacts while improving transition detail. The Digital Cinema progressive scan (3-2 inverse pulldown) function provides accurate, smooth film reproduction. Other features include a sleep timer, V-Chip parental controls, color temperature adjustment, tri-lingual on-screen menus (English, French, Spanish), channel labeling, and closed captioning on mute.
The 27HL95 has two stereo speakers that provide 10 watts of power per channel (for 20 watts of total power) and SRS 3D and SRS WOW virtual surround sound modes. This TV offers the following video and audio connections:
Tech Talk
HDMI -- HDMI makes an uncompressed digital RGB connection from the source to the screen. By eliminating conversion to an analog signal, it delivers an unblemished image. The non-degraded signal reduces flicker and leads to a clearer picture. HDMI intelligently communicates the highest output resolution with the source device. The HDMI input is fully backward compatible with DVI sources but includes digital audio. HDMI uses HDCP copy protection.

A very good system,
This review is from: Toshiba 27HL95 27-Inch Flat Panel LCD HDTV (Electronics)
Easy to set up. Lots of Options. The HD picture is fantastic. The remote has a lot of options to control other units. 27" was very important to me because of the cabinet I was putting the TV in. This Toshiba was about the only LCD TV with 27" an could fit because the speakers were at the bottom rather than the sides. Regarding the speakers, bass sounds can easily override these speakers.

I purchased one of these because of the great discount at the time. I come to find out a week later when the cable card was installed that the TV didn't work with the card. It couldn't pick up the channels it was suppose to. The cable company told me they've had numerous problems with Toshiba's Cable card TVs. The problem is bugs in the TV software. I called Toshiba and they informed me that the software on the TV was many versions old and needed to be updated. They of course will do this for free, but in the meantime, I can't access any high-def content. Eventually this will get resolved with only inconvenience to me, but before you buy one of these, you should ask what revision the software is at and if it's the latest. My guess is that the salesman will not have a clue. But if they repair them, the repair department should know. If it isn't the latest, ask to have it updated BEFORE you get it home. This goes for ALL cable card capable Toshiba TVs. Toshiba should have recalled all of these and updated them all instead of leaving these duds out there for us to "discover". It leaves a very bad taste in my mouth and I probably wouldn't buy another Toshiba because you just shouldn't have to go through the hassle.
