Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Toshiba's 32A33 is a feature-packed alternative to costlier sets. The 32-inch set offers an FST Black picture tube, stereo sound with 2.5 watts per channel, as well as a host of inputs--from standard RF (for antenna, VCR, or cable box) all the way to high-resolution component-video (for DVD players, satellite receivers, and digital video recorders).

The 32A33 offers picture-enhancing technology, too--its digital comb filter and vertical contour correction further enhance resolution by removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped T-shirt). Meanwhile, advanced velocity-scan modulation improves the definition at picture edges, creating sharper images by slowing the CRT (cathode-ray tube) beam's horizontal scanning during demanding work--say, when rendering transitions from light to dark parts of an image--and speeding it up when scanning easily rendered sections, like broad dark areas.

You get two sets of rear audio/video inputs (two composite-video inputs and one each S-video and ColorStream component-video) as well as one set of front AV inputs for easy connection with a camcorder, digital camera, or gaming console. A rear AV output lets you hook the set up with a surround receiver. The 32A33 also features V-Chip parental controls, channel lock, video lock, a sleep timer, and a glow-in-the-dark universal remote control.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific 32" TV at a bargain price., August 2, 2003

I'm a fanatic when it comes to the picture quality of TV sets and I've found that Sony and Toshiba TVs consistently rank at the top in picture quality, but Toshiba's are always more reasonably priced. This Toshiba is no exception. Its picture is very clean and sharp, better than some high definition TVs I've seen. Yes, its picture is "only" 32" in an era where picture sizes of 50" and more are available. But 32" is a very impressive picture size and allows for a reasonable price. Most TVs with super-size screens are significantly more expensive and do not have as good picture quality as this Toshiba. If you want a larger than 27" TV with great picture quality at a very reasonable price, you can't beat this Toshiba.

5.0 out of 5 stars As stated by others, a great quality bargain., November 13, 2003
This review is from: Toshiba 32A33 32" TV (Electronics)
To elaborate on this set is not necessary. I briefly agonized between Toshiba 32" flat vs. curved. Both have beautiful pictures, a full compliment of inputs, and cost justifiably less than Sony.
Three factors enabled me to save a couple hundred by choosing the curved over the flat. One, I can control reflective glare in the room it's housed within (opaque blinds) - note that flat reflects less. Two, I run sound through a box home theatre system-Onkyo HTS760-superb at $500) - note that TV sound wasn't a factor for me and that I haven't listened to the sound yet. Three, this replaces a 32" Toshiba that yet has a beautiful picture that has not given me a picture problem in ten+ years.

The old set (which by the way cost over $900 ten years ago) goes to my young relative becuase I sought a slimer design with component input.

I got it for $358 + tax at Best Buy and I feel great about the purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!, February 25, 2004

I bought this tv after lamenting for several months over the different sets. I was going to buy a rear-projection HDTV but I'm going to wait until the HD programming is more than the 10 channels that I don't watch. So I bought this tv to do me 2-3 years and boy am I happy I did!!! This tv is sooooo crystal clear when I am watching my digital cable. I have the cable box hooked up using the svideo connection and I have never seen quite the picture I get on a normal CRT. Its so clear and it totally blows away my 6 year old 27 inch JVC. I hooked up my dvd player using the component connection and MAN! As if the picture could get any better! It does though.. mind blowing clarity when i was watching Finding Nemo with my daughter. Now I compared and compared and read review after review and am so happy with my purchase. The tv looked great in the store next to the sharp 32 inch, rca and jvc tvs and I knew it would be much better at home on my non-spliced-a-million-times connection. I am so happy and recommend this tv 100% to anyone looking to spend 400 and under. You can't go wrong!
