5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product that won't break the bank
I have always been impressed by Toshiba's televisions, and this one is no exception. I purchased this TV last week, and I am thoroughly satisfied with my purchase. The picture looks great (especially DVDs through the component video inputs), the sound is way above average for a TV in this range, and the features are equal to what you'd find on pricier brands. 1.0 out of 5 stars Tube whines
The TV tube buzzed so loud, turning up the volumed only gave me a headache. Factory service couldn't replace the tube so I waited a few months for the factory to send me a new one. The tube on the new one buzzes too. But after it warms up, it settles down to a volume I can handle. I don't want to deal with factory service anymore.

Basically, Toshiba gives you the quality you want but without the huge pricetag. One thing made me sad though: only one set of Component Video inputs. So if you want that high quality Xbox experience in addition to DVDs, you'll have to switch it through your receiver (which is what I do). Anyway, great TV and great price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent TV, very good price, August 7, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Toshiba 32AF44 32" TV with FST PURE Flat Screen (Electronics)
This is the first time I've written a review but I thought I should as I have found other people's comments really helpful especially when making decisions on bigger ticket items. This is a really good TV at a great price. It replaces a 27" Toshiba which was also excellent and which goes to another room. There is an S video connector on the front of the set but none on the rear and only one composite connection but 3 component (RCA) connectors. Go figure. So it does mean swapping over for the very best picture quality when using say an x-box, I just leave mine on the front S video connection. But it provides a great picture and great sound and for now beats HDTV sets value wise for regular 4:3 programming, which is what my wife mainly watches.

The only downside is the Eagle delivery service which I read about from other people when shopping for this new set (we moved house and have a much bigger den now). They were 2 hours late outside of their 9am-1pm delivery slot and confused when I called them. Having said that they were very nice and tried to be helpful. When the set arrived the delivery guy was excellent if challenged by the size and weight of the item, it probably should have been a two person delivery job. Between us we managed to get it into the den and he waited patiently while I tested it. He was so helpful I had to tip him although he clearly didn't expect it. On the other hand this delivery via Amazon only cost $69 while other suppliers tried to charge $150 which I thought was outrageous.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great TV for the price, October 4, 2004
This review is from: Toshiba 32AF44 32" TV with FST PURE Flat Screen (Electronics)
This tv is a great value with good picture and good sound for internal speakers. The tv itself is rather large and heavy but if you have the room it is a great set. The delivery service was also a great value, as they were on time, and fast with the set up. I would recomend this tv to anyone looking for a large screen, good picture quality, and good sound at a reasonable price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice 32 inch TV for the price!, September 23, 2004

This review is from: Toshiba 32AF44 32" TV with FST PURE Flat Screen (Electronics)
Toshiba makes quality TVs, still own 20-inch that is about eight years old, never experienced a problem. Nice picture, even facing sun. I considered buying flat screen for this reason but I am glad I made a decision to wait a while on paying for a more expensive set. I do have to adjust the antenna when changing channels, but it's worth it to receive the quality picture (hopeful that once the satellite is hooked up, this won't be a problem), currently just a little grainy. Happy though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice TV, not-so-great delivery, February 22, 2005

The TV indeed has great sound that more than fills up the room. The picture quality and sharpness are excellent. In close-ups, shadows on people's faces can appear slightly purplish- or greenish-grey, but maybe the color can be adjusted to correct this. Delivery was right on time but it was a nightmare because the one Eagle delivery guy could not possibly uncrate and install the 150-lb. beast all by himself. He was a very nice, very conscientous guy who truly gave it his best effort. The TV is cumbersome to say the least and so front-heavy it literally fell out of the entertainment center once. I'm hoping that's not the cause of the color problems because Amazon doesn't accept returns of TVs over 27".
