Toshiba's FST Pure flat, glass surface features a wider viewing angle compared to traditional radius CRT sets, enabing you to see more picture from a greater range of angles with less room light reflection. The Advanced Velocity Scan Modulation feature varies the speed of the electron beam scanning the CRT to improve dark to light transitions and improve contrast and overall picture sharpness. The 3D digital comb filter analyzes sequential fields of information to eliminate dot crawl and color bleed, helping to reduce detail noise--seen as shimmering or flicker--in complex or intricately detailed scenes.
The StableSound feature maintains television volume within a preset range regardless of the source signal, eliminating annoying volume changes of extremely loud commercial messages or drastic volume fluctuations experienced while changing channels. The BBE sound enhancement circuitry is designed to enhance the mid to high frequencies to create clear crisp dialogue from the TV's internal speakers.
The Toshiba 32AF45 includes ColorStream component video inputs for use with higher resolution sources such as DVD and Digital Set-Top Boxes. Because the video signal is split into its base components--Y (the black and white part of the picture) Pr (red minus Y) and Pb (blue minus Y)--the signal remains pure and unaffected by the TV's comb filter of NTSC decoder. It also includes front-panel AV inputs for easy connection of a gaming system.
What's in the Box

Worst TV we have ever owned!,

This review is from: Toshiba 32AF45 32" Flat Screen CRT TV (Electronics)
We were really excited when we got this TV for our wedding gift, but it has turned out to be a nightmare. We have had to return and replace the TV 4 times now, which is not easy since it is a 150 pound TV. The first TV had black bars running vertically through the screen, the second, third, and fourth TVs had images that were not centered on the screen, bowed on the top and bottom, and green bars running vertically through the image. I would never recommend this model, in fact, I would definitely say it is the worst TV I have ever owned. We now have to return this TV for the fifth time, and we are definitely not getting this model again.

The TV works great. The image quality is very good, but the colors seem the slightest bit off at times, not always, sometimes channels seem a little dark, some channels a little washed out. It's not that noticable. I may be searching too hard for faults. For the size and quality, it's a excellent bargain. There is also a very small bit of distortion on the lower right corner of the picture, only noticable with very small texted news tickers. If you search on the Toshiba 32AF44, you'll see more reviews for a very similar model.

OK, so it's not the best there is but can you really expect the best for this price. Our old 32" broke. It was a RCA and we got it in late '97. For over a year now we have had to sit next to the TV and unplug it and plug it back in to get the sound to work. We also had problems reading some small print on the Direct TV menu and thought it was Direct TV until we hooked up our new Toshiba about three weeks ago and could read things clearly. The screen actually showed more picture than the old one too. I guess it was more broken than we thought. My only complaint is the picture really isn't crisp (compared to the high end models we looked at in the store) and the color does seem a little strange on some shows but compared to what we were using we are totally happy. We really shopped around for this one and just wanted something to tide us over until we could save up for a bigger high definition set. I think for the price we got a great deal. We got ours at a local shop for $449 and didn't have to worry about shipping.
