The 32HL95's video is powered by the PixelPure AT digital video processor, which offers motion adaptive de-interlacing, adaptive MPEG processing, and adaptive contrast and color enhancement for a consistently high picture quality. The HD Dynamic Contrast feature increases Contrast and Color Saturation to create deep, rich images, analyzing both the dark and bright areas of the picture, and separately optimizing the dynamic range in each area of the picture.
The 32HL95 has a widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio--perfect for high-definition telecasts and DVD movies--1366 x 768-pixel resolution, fast 12 ms (millisecond) response time, wide 170-degree viewing angle, 500 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) brightness rating, and amazing 800:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) It supports 720p (HDTV), 480p (EDTV), and 480i (SDTV) video formats.
The 3D Y/C digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time, to reduce dramatically edge image artifacts while improving transition detail. The Digital Cinema progressive scan (3-2 inverse pulldown) function provides accurate, smooth film reproduction. Other features include a sleep timer, V-Chip parental controls, color temperature adjustment, tri-lingual on-screen menus (English, French, Spanish), channel labeling, and closed captioning on mute.
The 32HL95 has two stereo speakers that provide 10 watts of power per channel (for 20 watts of total power) and SRS 3D and SRS WOW virtual surround sound modes. This TV offers the following video and audio connections:

HDMI -- HDMI makes an uncompressed digital RGB connection from the source to the screen. By eliminating conversion to an analog signal, it delivers an unblemished image. The non-degraded signal reduces flicker and leads to a clearer picture. HDMI intelligently communicates the highest output resolution with the source device. The HDMI input is fully backward compatible with DVI sources but includes digital audio. HDMI uses HDCP copy protection.

Great TV. Good picture. Only minor annoyances.,
By R. Kohlhepp (Madison, WI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Toshiba 32HL95 32-Inch Flat Panel LCD HDTV (Electronics)
Summary: I am very happy with this HDTV. The product works very well and does almost everything I need.
Why I bought this model: - Our Samsung 30" HDTV tube died and I didn't like the tube replacements. I also didn't want another bulky 120-150 lbs. television. - I wanted a compact HDTV for our small family room. Speakers on the bottom reduces the width as well. - Must have ATSC tuner for over-the-air reception. - It was a great price at Beach Audio. What my family watches on it: - Over-the-air HD programming - drama, comedy, sports, kids programming, etc. - Widescreen DVDs from Progressive Scan DVD player - Standard 4x3 aspect DVDs and VCR tapes. What I like: - Great size and weight - fits perfectly in our family room. - Easy to setup. - Great picture - including fast-moving sports. - Very good audio with pretty full sound. - Plenty of inputs that are covered for a cleaner cable area. - Non-widescreen DVD and VCR input is masked cleanly on the sides. What I don't like: - The programming guide is "TV Guide" branded and is not very intuitive. It lacks some channels and is wrong on others. I would prefer that they used the ATSC broadcasted programming information. - For programming that is broadcast with the incorrect aspect ratio, meaning 4:3 aspect source stretched to widescreen, there is no way to force the TV to squeeze the picture. Eventually, the TV stations will correct, but it's frustrating until then. My old Samsung could force the aspect ratio.

Wonderful LCD TV, worth the price,

Excellent TV. Has a great picture in both HDTV and SD modes. No ghosting and rich colors. Cable Card slot and dual HDTV tuners are great features at such a price. Easy to use menus with lots of options for adjusting the set. Swivel stand, sleek design, and good audio quality. Back of set hides the cords nicely, with a clip for keeping them in check. HDMI, component video outs, PC-out (15 pin, not DVI), Audio out.
A couple of things that could be better - Changes the channels slowly. Has a slight delay from when you push the channel change button on the remote until it actually changes. Also no PIP feature. Besides that, it is wonderful. I recommend this TV highly. It is comparable to the Sharp's and Sony's, but without the high cost. If you want an LCD TV now, it makes sense to buy one in this price range, since 1080p LCD's aren't far away from coming down in price, and upgrading to one of those will be a must for either Blu-Ray or HD-DVD players.

Excellent HD with built in ATSC Tuner for a great price WHILE TUNER LASTS,

If you are looking for an HDTV with a built in HD tuner, this may be the set for you. I've owned the TV for 2 weeks. I live in a crowded city center with tall buildings and with a cheap antenna I can pull in all local stations in digital and HD when they broadcast - the picture is fantastic if the signal is 1080i or 720p. I also use an old DVD (non-progessive scan) player and the picture is pretty amazing. I haven't had DirecTV hooked up yet, so I can't comment on that picture, but so little HD is available, I may just get the standard package without HD and pull in HD over air for now. The TV is very bright and the picture is very nice once you calibrate it. Set-up is easy and there are the full compliment of inputs. My only complaint is that the TV Guide doesn't extract data over-air in my location, but I doubt I would use it anyway.
Update: after 1 year the HD (ATSC) tuner died - sound but no picture; can still see DirecTv over HDMI and analog signal fine but no more over air HD. Bummer.
