True home theater picture quality and enhanced PC gaming |
Full 1080p resolution for ultimate detail |
DynaLight technology for a powerful picture with deep blacks for increased detail and incredible depth |
Three HDMI inputs and multiple other connections |
1080p Full HD CineSpeed LCD Display
Today's highest resolution video content is 1920 x 1080 for over 2,000,000 pixels. A standard 720p HD display has less than 1,000,000 display pixels, and must discard half of the original video content, resulting in decreased picture detail. On the other hand, a 1080p Full HD Display has over 2,000,000 display pixels, maintaining the full video resolution and clarity. A CineSpeed display has an LCD Response Time of 8ms or less to ensure that the display is also fast enough for high quality home theater.
DynaLight Dynamic Backlight
The Toshiba RV525 utilizes advanced histogram image processing to monitor the brightness level of each video frame and automatically adjusts the backlight intensity based on the image content. This precise signal analysis allows for 256 levels of backlight control and can create a Dynamic Contrast that is 7 to 10 times greater than the original panel contrast. The result is a powerful picture with deep blacks for increased detail and incredible depth.
Built-In ATSC/NTSC/QAM Digital Tuning
Built-In ATSC/NTSC/QAM digital tuning allows for tuning of standard cable channels as well as off-air digital broadcasts, in addition to digital "cable-in-the-clear" broadcasts.
Gaming Mode
Gaming Mode enhances the gaming experience by reducing game controller delay. The Gaming Mode allows the video signal to bypass select picture circuitry to shorten the overall signal to screen time. This provides an approximate 33-millisecond response improvement for 60Hz models and 48-millisecond response improvement for 120Hz models, virtually eliminating controller delay.
High-Res PC Input (15-Pin D-Sub)
Perfect for the true PC gamer who likes a big screen, the Toshiba RV525 comes equipped with a 15-pin D-Sub connector to connect to your computer. In the world of the video game enthusiast, the better the view, the better the experience.
Color Temperature Control
Many Toshiba televisions provide three user-selectable Color Temperature settings that control the set's overall white balance. The "Warm" setting reduces the color temperature to an NTSC standard 6500 degrees Kelvin and delivers a redder image that is ideal for display in a dimly lit room. "Medium" and "Cool" provide a progressively bluer image for the best picture as room light levels are increased. The viewer can adjust white balance to achieve the best television picture possible in any viewing environment, or they can simply adjust the picture to suit their personal tastes.
TheaterWide Modes
Sets with TheaterWide modes are ideal for displaying HDTV signals as well as "enhanced for widescreen television" DVDs. The "TheaterWide 1: Letterboxed" image is digitally expanded 33% horizontally and vertically, which is useful for reproducing Academy Standard (1.85:1) formatted media. The "TheaterWide 2: Letterboxed" image is expanded 33% horizontally and 42% vertically, great for viewing narrow letterboxed images originally filmed in Panavision or CinemaScope. Finally, the "TheaterWide 3: Letterboxed" image is expanded 33% horizontally and 24% vertically. This can be utilized when displaying letterboxed images that incorporate narrow bands at the top and bottom of the picture.
Quality Audio
Toshiba's thin-line speaker system with enhanced dynamic range yields big speaker sound in a slim cabinet, and QSound 3D gives you a room-filling surround sound effect. Mute and Half Mute features let you back off the volume when commercials come on or you need to concentrate on something else.
Connectivity
The 32RV525R offers a wide variety of inputs and outputs, as follows:

![]() | With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience. If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get.

Pleasantly Surprised-A NonTechnical Update,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I got this item on a Gold Box special, so I ordered quickly with no reviews posted. Then I saw a lot of negative comments in the Gold Box section, especially regarding the sound quality. I have had the TV for less than 24 hours so I am not going to be able to provide an in-depth review, but I will say my fears were unfounded. For $389, no shipping charges, I could not have done better. The sound is fine. The picture is beautiful. The TV is attractive and not heavy. The remote is difficult to program and we are still working on that. We are not yet able to get all of the info on shows we got from our original Dish remote, but we are down to one remote rather than the two we had previously.
Several others asked about computer usage, and I have not tried to do this although it looks like it is equipped for this use. I don't have any reason to believe that picture-in-picture capacity exists, but who knows? My point in the quick posting is that there is a lot of negative reaction to this product, and I wanted to report a positive experience. The most common comment was that the sound got garbled after a few hours use, and this has not occurred in its first day of performance. My old set had lousy sound, so this is a major improvement. Good luck! And, by the way, I ordered it on Fri morning and received it Sat night...on Super Saver Shipping...bravo!

Great Product,

This review is from: Toshiba 32RV525R 32-Inch 1080p 60 Hz LCD HDTV (Electronics)
I bought this TV on the infamous Gold Box Deal of the Day. I was skeptical of the "low-end" aspect of the TV but decided I couldn't pass it up as I could use it in the bedroom whenever I get my dream 'perfectly crisp' and 'advanced LED' HDTV in the near future. I love HDTVs that have great detail and crispness to the point of awe. I received the TV 2 business days later after ordering in the evening during the deal.
I set the TV up and the size works perfectly in my living room which my viewing space between the couch and the TV is just about right for the TV (It's not a large living room). Over the air HDTV channels are accessible with the internal digital tuner. The picture is great. It isn't the perfection I wanted and it isn't very crisp and doesn't bring awe. That is what the fairly expensive TV's bring. For the deal price and the price the TV is selling now, it is a great purchase to make in order to view broadcast and satellite. I was pleased and glad I bought it. I purchased a ps3 as well to view netflix streaming, blue-ray, dvd up-convert, and gaming. The picture that the ps3 brings to the table is very sharp, crisp, and detailed. HDMI connections seems to bring out the best in the TV as always should. Played a couple demos and they looked great as well as testing a Blue-Ray movie. I simply was impressed. In a Nutshell: This TV isn't top-of the line as that is obvious and it wasn't intended to be. Instead this is a "low-end" TV that wasn't intended to be low-end and is very much a "under high-end and above low-end" product. If you do have a large living room, consider getting this TV for the bedroom. If you have a dorm or small apartment, the TV will satisfy your current needs in your living room for the price. (take "for the price" lightly as it isn't a bad statement in this instance)

Great Buy,

I like others here purchased this TV as a Today's Deal on the 15th for $390 and was extremely pleased to receive it within 24 hours of purchase, kudos to Amazon! I am by no means a technical person, my son normally sets up everything for me, however, I had this set up within 10 minutes. I do not have this hooked up to a HD receiver as yet, standard Direct TV receiver, and the picture is excellent. I am not sure why there is so many remarks about sound, it sounds great to me. I did not purchase to play games or use as a computer monitor, just to watch TV in my home office. Bottom line, great buy for my needs and I would recommend to other consumers.
