This 43-inch HDTV-compatible (1080i) rear-projection TV from Toshiba delivers outstanding video resolution with 1,200 lines of horizontal resolution, high-definition 7-inch cathode-ray tubes, and cutting-edge connectivity. Its convenient front-panel connections feature one S-video input for state-of-the-art video transmission along with a pair of analog audio-video inputs. Two sets of high-definition component-video inputs deliver the highest quality video to the 43H72's low-reflection, high-contrast screen. Rear inputs include two more S-video connections, two pairs of analog audio-video inputs, two RF (cable TV) inputs, and a center-channel input. This unit also features two rear audio-video outputs and variable audio outputs.

Toshiba's 43H72 comes with an illuminated multibrand remote control and two AA batteries to get you started. With the remote, you can run special functions like channel recall and favorite channel, while a dual tuner lets you enjoy picture-in-picture viewing--great for sports fans.

The 43H72's 16:9 aspect ratio with vertical compression is ideal for widescreen viewing. Its 3-D Y/C digital comb filter with vertical contour correction processes the video signal without reducing the picture's resolution and reduces cross-color interference and color ringing. Advanced velocity-scan modulation allows for clean transitions and sharp image edges, ensuring superb picture quality. You can further enhance your visuals with a color-temperature control, while digital video noise reduction adds to your audio experience.

Toshiba's 43H72 is a perfect size for home entertainment centers and is fully compatible with cutting-edge home theater systems and high-definition set-top boxes, offering a unique audio-video experience.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lots of money for questionable product, December 31, 2005

This review is from: Toshiba 43H72 43-Inch 4:3 HDTV-Ready Projection TV (Electronics)
This TV is overpriced in today's market. Beware of this TV and Toshiba. We have an earlier version of this TV, the 43H71. At first we loved it. However, 2 months after the warranty expired it started having convergence problems. Toshiba refused to help at all because the warranty had just expired. It is now worse, and we've found out that it will cost a minimum of $500 to fix because a technician has to come out and put in a new convergence card. It also came with picture side by side, rather than picture in picture. However, the local cable company, Cox, doesn't let you use this feature if you use their cable, but it does come with their Video Recorder service, which, of course is more money. For this price, I would have expected better from Toshiba. Our picture is now wavy and you can't make out features. There are 2 horizontal lines going through it and it bows. Toshiba should have helped us, considering how close to the warranty deadline it was, either by covering the repair or helping to cover it. They will definitely not be my first choice.

Purchased our Toshiba projection television in 2002. Great picture - even in brightly lit room. Excellent, flawless performance for the first three years, then also lost convergence as noted in other reviews. Fortunately, had heard of this being an issue with all projection tvs and had purchased an extended warranty, which covered the repair.
