I received this 55" Toshiba TV today from Amazon. I did a lot of comparisons, with the most-popular brands (in person and online) before deciding on this purchase. I have an old CRT Toshiba TV that's still going strong, so I thought I would research their LCDs as well. The picture is stunning, and Blu-ray movies are amazingly crisp and fluid. The sound is average, but that's not a deal-breaker for me because I hooked it up to my BOSE home theater system. I got a great price, free shipping with white-glove delivery, and saved a couple hundred dollars over the "popular" brand I was planning to buy. I highly recommend it.

My husband was not sure he wanted a new TV and now I can not get him away from the TV. The color is amazing and the contrast so sharp and clear, it is a pleasure to watch, I already owned a 32 inch Toshiba that I also purchased from amazon so I trusted the product,but was concerned about the sound because the smaller set has adequate but not great sound, but this larger set is much louder and it is not a real issue as we will be using the surround sound any way. For the price this has to be the best deal out there right now and I could not be happier. I have an issue with the shipping company but it has nothing to do with amazon or the quality of the TV so I am a happy custo

Excellent product, great picture, easy-to-use, versatile. The only 2 minor complaints I have are: (1) The speakers are a little inadequate for a large room or a room with noise in it. (2) The remote control will control multiple devices, but to do so, you must slide a little switch back and forth to select the device to control - cumbersome - (whereas many other remotes just have a line of quick push-buttons for selecting the device you want). But, really, it is simple to operate and adjust, etc. and provides a great picture.

The shipping was fast, but the box clearly is labeled for two people to handle the box as it is quite large. But, one guy showed-up with it and had torn the sides of the box open. Fortunately, it didn't seem to hurt the TV.

I gave this TV 5 stars because of the quality and price. I am more than pleased with the picture quality. I have a 42" Toshiba Regza and LOVE IT!... wanted something bigger. Was a little worried that this one was not a "Regza", but took a chance for the price. It is a great picture. I have not listened to any sound from the TV speakers as i have surround sound, so can not comment on the sound quality. I would highly recommend this TV. 55" for this price is a steal. And you can't go wrong with Toshiba. Like I've said, I have 2 Toshiba TV's and a laptop and have had no problems at all with any of them. Hope this helps!

I don't really have anything to add, great TV, has a matte finish on the screen, not gloss so it doesn't show much reflection at all. One thing to watch out for is that the max resolution on a signal coming into the VGA connector is 1360x768, that was kind of a bummer, but supposedly dumping video to HDMI solves this issue. This is why I had to knock a star off of it, really I'd like to rate it 4.5 stars.

I have had this TV since 8/24/10. It is replacing a 52" Sony Bravia (will provide model # later-2009 Vintage). I have nothing bad to say about the Bravia....had a chance to swap TV's for minimal investment so I took the leap. I have the Toshiba hooked up to a Comcast DVR and a LG 390 Blue Ray player both using HDMI. The TV also has an RJ45 connection that I have hooked up to my network as well.

The Bravia pic was great...never had a complaint...but the Toshiba is definitely better. Very pleased I took the chance on this TV. The network connection does nothing more than allow content from my networked computers to be seen on the larger screen. There is also a USB connection that I have used to view pix from my USB card reader.

I also tried hooking up my laptop to the TV to see how that looked....no problems there either.

Nothing else to write home about; the remote is "ok", sound seems fine - no issues with hearing anything I have watched so far - I have not hooked up my home theater to it yet.

Before pulling the trigger on this TV I also looked at a 54" Panasonic Plasma (TC-P54S2) - which was quite disappointing and made my decision much easier!

In conclusion, the Toshiba is really just a very good TV with not a whole lot of bells & whistles.

I love the TV. I got the TV using my united miles so I was a bit skeptical. It is an amazing product so far. Crisp picture. Perfect for our medium sized living room. One thing about viewing on a 55 inch TV is that non-HD channels dont look so good any more. So I had to subscribe to HD channels. I dont like the placement of the buttons on the remote though. My other TV is a Sony - I like the Sony remote. Its more intuitive.

After shopping all around in various stores and on the Internet for a new HDTV, we finally settled on this 55" Toshiba. To say that our experience with Amazon.com was great, would be an understatement. The Toshiba HDTV is wonderful and the service was outstanding.

Within minutes of my placing the order with Amazon.com, we had a conformation of our order by email with the estimated delivery date. Just three days later, at 8:30 AM on the estimated delivery date, someone from the frieght company called and said they would be at our home in about an hour. 50 minutes and 60 miles later, it was delivered to my doorstep. Two men carefully carried our new TV into our living room, unboxed it, inspected it for damage, and carried out the box and all the packing material. It was in perfect condition. Besides saving about $300 on the TV alone, the free shipping and no sales tax to pay were additional bonuses.

We couldn't be happier with our new TV set. The only thing I would even comment on is that the sound quality is like all other new TVs, adequate but won't exactly blow your hair back. But this is not an issue with me as we intend to buy a new surround sound system shortly. I also found that if I set the volume to the maximum on our cable box, the TV's volume is more than adequate to drive my wife out of the livng room.

Very good TV picture is excellent the only negative would be the sound is not loud enough so you really need to hook it up to a home theater system.
Delivery was great schedule to a window 9 to 11 and arrived at 8 am so i didn't waste half a day waiting for them.

I searched and searched for TVs for months, waiting for prices to drop and comparing pictures. One day a salesman said to me, "you know that when you take it home you won't notice the difference because the other tv's won't be there." It was the smartest advice that I ever heard. So, I resolved that I wanted a big LCD TV, with four hdmi inputs, and quick response rate, for the best price and I found the Toshiba. A couple of months later and I could not be happier.

The delivery was awesome, all of my components worked right out of the box. Never mind all of those people who tell you that a TV can be too big for a room, I love it!
