The 61HX70 Cinema Series 61-inch 16:9 HDTV from Toshiba has a number of advanced features to immerse you in a complete home theater experience. Toshiba's HD Dynamic Contrast creates deep, rich images using circuitry that analyzes both the dark and bright areas of the picture. High-speed velocity scan modulation also improves contrast and overall picture sharpness, as does its TheaterShield Plus, which lessens distracting reflections. An Invar shadow mask helps control color and image blur as the set warms up, and its 3D Y/C comb filter effectively separates color and black-and-white signals for higher resolution.

Sound settings include SRS surround sound and MTS Stereo/SAP with dbx. The built-in sub bass system (SBS), which heightens the impact of low-frequency audio, and dual-cone speakers are capable of 28 watts of audio--14 watts per channel. The set has sound leveling technology to reduce volume spikes, evening out sound volume between programming and commercials.

Use two-tuner picture-in-picture to watch two programs at once. Or try the multiwindow display that lets you preview up to nine channels at a time. Other convenient features include the illuminated universal remote control, the ability to save favorite channels for faster surfing, a trilingual onscreen display (English, Spanish, and French), one front and two rear composite inputs, two RF inputs, and dual ColorStream HD component inputs for the best picture quality from high-resolution component video signals from compatible DVD players and satellite receivers.

Ok, we are in a world of flat screens now - the only problem with that is you will need a second mortgage to afford them. Enter the Toshiba 61" Cinema Series. The quality is great! The picture can be viewed from almost all angles and not just front and centre. Using the on screen menu system couldn't be simpler. The remote lights up which is very nice. Its 4:3 which means no fish eye or stretched pictures (how can people stand this?) and the sound is fantastic - no need for a surround system. Save your money - purchase a set like this for a great experience. Grab a nice progressive scan DVD player with the money you saved!
