Batteries should last longer that approximately 45 minutes.

The LCD display has no brightness setting or automatic dimming feature and the touch response isn't that great.

Ordered the camcorder during thanksgiving and used it for two days and was not very happy with the performance. it does not have Optical Stabilization. It only has digital(Electronic) Stabilization which is not of much use.The picture quality is excellent and the Audio is ok.Did not test the Still images too much but seemed just ok when took a couple of photos.also please note that it does not have an internal memory. You have to buy a memory card. Here are my observations.

Pros:
1)Excellent HD Quality.
2)Surprisingly its very good in low light conditions.
3)the touch screen controls are fine.
4)It has a swivelling touch screen which I like.
5)Comes with remote which is a great feature.

Cons:
1)Focus is bad.It takes about 4 seconds to focus on an object especially during zoom in and zoom out.though it might not sound like too much, but you can clearly see the difference.
2)Missing Optical stabilization which is a very important feature. It only has Electronic or Digital Stabilization which is not of much use.The video woobles/shakes at higher zooms.A big negative.but for lower zoom levels, it just works fine
3)Battery life is not good. I barely recorded about 30 mins and the battery was left with just one bar remaining.

For the price, seems just ok. On a personal note,I would rather spend few bucks more and get a better one.

The best thing is that its less than $200, where other brands of similar specifications are $80 more. Unfortunately this camera doesnt perform very well at all.

Pros:
-Cheap at under 200
-small, lightweight
-LCD is decent

Cons:
-worthless image stabilization (its digital, not optical, and its terrible in effectiveness)
-poor battery life (30-40 minutes of footage, about an hour total on time)
-poor image quality, then again its only 200.
-touchscreen is a pain to use.. very clunky
-have to remove my tripod mount to take the SD card out (and battery)
-Focus is soooooooo slow, and very poor close range focusing.

Overall the aggravations arent worth the low price. Im taking it back and spending more on a better product.

I bought the Toshiba Camileo X200 for $129 at another store, brand new. I use it for the taping of lectures. The camera comes with software that makes uploading to YouTube a breeze. Transferring a video to DVD using Nero software leaves a presentation that is impeccable. In full HD 1080p, it is equal to any commercial movie DVD. My use involves a small table tripod, and with the remote I can zoom in or out. If one has a shaky hand, the electronic movement control helps a little, so I would recommend use of a tripod if possible. A 15 minute recording uses over 1 G of memory, so a SDHC memory card is recommended, since there is only 1 G on board. Excellent HD product.

I have successfully used this camcorder for about a year using an Apple MacPro running OS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard). However, it doesn't seem to like OS 10.8 which is the latest software. The computer doesn't want to load it on to the desk top. I am working with Toshiba Customer Support to solve the problem. So far, they haven't been very helpful. I will revise my review when I get some results.

A previous reviewer commented on the focusing. The focus is sometimes slow. Also, the battery life is relatively short. You will need to use AC power for recordings over about 35 minutes. Over all, I liked the camera until I upgraded my software.

REVISION: I got no help from Toshiba. The Toshiba website says the camera is only compatible with PC's. B&H Electronics in NYC says it ought to work with Mac, but they are talking about 10.6.8 which is what I was using. It seems that the camera isn't compatible with 10.8.2 (Mt. Lion.) Buyer beware. It looks like I will be selling this camera.

I bought this camera in December 2012 to video my son's soccer games. The autofocus is built in and does not work. Half the video is blurry. It's like it's trying to adjust but just can't get there. It was useless for recording soccer games. The autofocus is not adjustable since it is a built in feature. I called Toshiba to get help and they stated that this problem was a "mechanical defect" and was not fixable. I've since learned that this defect is in all the video cameras of the camileo line. Toshiba customer support offered me a full refund via gift card to toshiba direct website. Useless for me since I needed a video camera and all they have on their website is camileo video cameras. Interestingly enough, they no longer sell the x200 at toshiba direct! Probably because of the defect and so many people trying to return them. I purchased the camera from walmart.com and paid $19 extra for a buyer protection plan. I called walmart buyer protection plan for help and they agreed to refund the purchase price of the camera in the form of a walmart gift card. Thank goodness I had purchased that buyer protection plan! Pretty despicable of toshiba to continue allowing this product to be sold by amazon, walmart, etc., while they know of the mechanical defect and won't sell it themselves on toshiba direct! Pretty despicable of them not to give a full cash refund. Shame on you toshiba. Buyer beware big time. Another problem is the editing software that comes with the camera is terrible. Also, the date time stamp cannot be turned permanently "on." Every time you turn on the camera you have to navigate through 3 different screens to turn the date time stamp on. Poorly designed. The manual is in pdf form and is also terrible. Only positive is that the camera records in standard mp4 format. Other than that, run from this one.
