3.0 out of 5 stars Cannot connect to a network computer, November 11, 2009

This review is from: Toshiba DMF102XKU 10-Inch Wireless Digital Media Frame (Electronics)
This was my first wireless frame. It is probably my fault, but I was under the impression that you would be able to move/view pictures from a networked computer onto this frame. That is not the case. You can only stream from the web, such as Framechannel or Flickr or other RSS feeds. For this purpose it works really well. The connection to the wireless network was quick and painless and the quality of the pictures is pretty good. If you only want to stream, this frame is fine. If you want it to be part of your network, consider something else to include the Kodak wireless frames ( Kodak EasyShare W1020 10-Inch Wireless Digital Frame ) which can access the media server capability of Vista or Windows 7 machines natively or the Kodak software which enable drag and drop capability although not in the best software.

4.0 out of 5 stars We are happy with it..., January 7, 2010

After reading some of the other reviews, I was a bit hesitant to purchase this item. However, after researching it a bit, I went ahead and ordered it for my Wife for Christmas. Setup took me about 15 minutes, and since I already had a Framechannel account, I was able to start viewing pictures immediately. I have lost internet connection a couple of times and had to unplug the unit and wait a bit before turning it back on. However, this always seemed to remedy the issue. To be fair, I have a new wireless router and I have been getting dropped connections on my laptops as well. I am fairly happy with my purchase and based on the features offered, would recommend the frame to friends and family. It is really neat to be able to email pictures and have them appear on the frame automatically. Assuming proper setup, this would be an excellent gift for Grandparents or anyone else that you want to keep up to date. The only other comment that I would make is that the frame is in a 16:9 format, which in my mind doesn't make alot of sense since most pictures are in the 4:3 format. The 10" size is also a bit misleading as this is of course a diagonal measurement and the actual vertical capability is only about 6" max. You do have the option of zooming the pictures to fill the frame however, and the unit has "smart" sensing as to whether it is standing in a vertical or horizontal position. Overall, it is a good product, and if you are not looking for a product with computer type functionality, you should be well satisfied. It really is an excellent way to enjoy all those old pictures that haven't seen the light of day for years.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wireless doesn't work, September 21, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Toshiba DMF102XKU 10-Inch Wireless Digital Media Frame (Electronics)
I purchased this item specifically for its wireless capabilities. Setup wasn't too difficult. I got it connected to framechannel without too much hassle. However, after about 3 or 4 hours, the unit completely jammed the my wireless home network. Every wireless device in the house stopped working. I unplugged the picture frame from the wall and my home network came back online. I repeated this process about 5 times to make sure it wasn't just a fluke. Happened every time. So I called tech support just to have the guy on the other end say that there was no possible way that it could be the picture frame. I played with it a bit longer and came to the same conclusion. I called tech support one more time just to hear the exact same thing ... that there was no possible way that it could be the wireless picture frame. I returned the unit to Amazon since I obviously wasn't going to get any help from them. I'm a software engineer, so I feel very confident in my tech skills. The issue was definitely with the picture frame.

The other thing that I was disappointed in was that there were some dead pixels in the lower left corner of the screen. Nothing too horrible, but it was really disappointing to see when I fired the thing up for the first time.
