The Toshiba IK-WD14A is a nice camera overall, but I'm not really impressed by the picture quality. The setup process is simple, but the software included is Windows only and does not offer any features other than basic setup. I was able to connect it to Blue Iris for Windows with no problem and Security Spy for Mac pretty easily also. If you want recording you'll have to download 3rd party or use the microSD card slot to store video on the camera because the camera doesn't include any recording software. The web interface works great, but I only tried it in Safari browser. There are plenty of configuration options especially if you go to advanced. I like that the camera offers more than just POE output, if you also want to connect it to a separate system or monitor. The WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) function works great, it compensates for dark areas in your image to accommodate a wide variety a lighting conditions. That combined with a good auto white balance and color system means the colors are pretty accurate without doing any tinkering.

The main complaints I have is that for a 1080p camera the picture quality is just not very good, but that's probably because the camera can't manage more than about 1.4 Mbps bit-rate at 24-30 fps which is very low for 1080p (for comparison a typical 1080p YouTube video is recommended at 8.0 Mbps, 1 Mbps for 360p). The zoom function is a little slow to respond using PTZ controls, but the big problem is that once you zoom the focus doesn't always get it right leaving you with an image that looks like it has Vaseline over the lens. The last thing is minor, but it bugs me that a camera at this price range doesn't have some sort of cover over the internal circuitry.

Night/day....PTZ....both in this listing and on Toshiba's site...what they meant is night/day IR filter, and ePTZ. I shall explain the difference.

An IR filter is used during daytime hours to filter out IR light so there is no abnormalities in coloration. Night/day means that at night, the IR filter is automatically drawn back. It is useful if you have an external (Or internal) IR led array for night vision, but it itself does nothing for night vision. ePTZ is merely a 1080 image that is cropped. You can digitally pan, tilt and zoom a small window out of a larger 1080 picture, but the 1080 picture is fixed. What this means is, if you want to PTZ, you'll be viewing a 480 cropped image of a 1080p fixed image.

They were not clear on that and I am glad I only bought one to test before purchaseing 7.
