The incorporated DVD player features compatibility with Video CD and CD-R/CD-RW discs. With the JPEG Viewer, you can easily display your favorite digital photos and create custom slideshows with a few simple clicks of the player's remote control. The interactive Digital Picture Zoom feature allows you to select an area of the video from a DVD and magnify it. Enhanced digital processing during moving video or freeze-frame playback produces superior color fidelity and resolution.
The MD20F51 has a double baffle front-firing speaker design, delivering the most stereo sound reproduction available from a television's internal speaker system and enabling you to eliminate the hassle of connecting to your stereo system. Use the single RCA-type output jack to send signature multi-channel audio--coaxial Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound output--to an audio/video receiver with a compatible input. It includes three Picture Preference presets (standard, sports, movie) as well as a Memory Mode that allows you to customize your own settings and save them. Other features include an ergonomic, glow-key remote control, tri-lingual on-screen displays, and V-chip parental control.
The Tray Lock feature allows a disc to be loaded into the tray and secured with an on-screen code. It's great for ensuring that a retail demonstration disc remains in the player, as well as to keep children from removing music and movie titles.

Good TV, Good DVD Player, Good Remote,
By PGH Mike (Pittsburgh, PA United States) - See all my reviews

Well worth the money. The DVD tray is not as delicate as another reviewer mentioned. The tray is actually more sturdy than the tray on my stand-alone JVC DVD Player. The flat-screen TV is great - rich, vibrant colors. Remote control is full of features. Only drawback is limited a/v connectors (coax in back and composite in front). Great if using in a spare room, etc.

DVD Player Stopped Working,
By Wary Dude (Thousand Oaks, California United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Toshiba MD20F51 20-Inch Flat TV/DVD Combo (Electronics)
I bought this Toshiba with the the thought of saving space by combining the TV and DVD player. Shortly after the warranty expired, the player could no longer read DVDs (not copies of DVDs but store-bought, legal ones); this after one year of very light use (it's in a spare bedroom). Now I have a nice TV and no DVD player, so I'll end up having to buy a separate DVD unit anyway. I recommend buying separate units because if the player or TV has problems, the other is of little use.

We have had the Toshiba MD20F51 combo for about 7 months now. It's in a children's bedroom and has survived great so far! It is easy to operate, and has a great picture and sound.
We are overseas in the military and recently shipped all of our household items. We kept back our Toshiba because it's been great so far. However, due to my ignorace, the remote control got packed. I purchased 3 univeral remote controls all of which would work for the sound, power, and channels. Unfortunately for us NONE of them will access the menu for us to set the channels. So, I contacted Toshiba directly. They said that there is no way to access the menu from the keys on the television, that we are free to purchase a replacement remote. I have to say that I am dissapointed with Toshiba. I had a problem before with a Sanyo product and their customer service was excellent and the problem was solved easier. But then again, I guess I got what I paid for. I just know in the future I will be looking for Combos that have a menu button on the unit and that don't rely completely on the remote.
