This 14-inch TV/VCR combo is all about convenience, from its petite, kitchen- and bedroom-friendly size (roughly 17 inches cubed) to its rich features and FST Pure flat, fine-pitch picture tube.

Recording
The MV14FL4's most convenient recording feature is surely its eight-event, one-month programmable timer. For more spontaneous taping, one-touch recording simplifies recording within a 24-hour period: a single button starts recording and lets you set the record length.

Playback
The TV offers a 14-inch CRT screen, a 181-channel frequency-synthesized tuner, an icon-based onscreen display for easy setup and operation, and closed captioning (when set to "mute") to assist those hard of hearing or new to the English language.

The VCR uses four video heads and a full-loading quick-access tape transport with digital tracking. Auto Play automatically begins when a prerecorded tape is placed in the machine, while with Auto Repeat prerecorded tapes will rewind and begin play after the initial playback is over.

Audio features
Both the TV and the VCR are equipped for hi-fi stereo sound.

Connections
Front AV input jacks let you plug in a camcorder, gaming console, VCR, or other device, while a 0.128-inch monaural earphone jack grants the option of private listening.

Other features
Conveniences include auto clock set, a trilingual onscreen display (English/French/Spanish), V-Chip parental control (helps keep underage eyes from mature content), and high-speed rewind/fast-forward (spool a standard T-120 tape in just 60 seconds.).

The MV14FL4 comes with sleep and wake timers as well as a unified remote control. The Energy Star-compliant unit measures 17.3 by 15.5 by 15.2 inches and weighs 33 pounds.

I like the looks and style, performance (both audio and visual), the extra inch in screen size over the industry standard 13" and the reasonable price that I paid for it(...). I had planned on buying a panasonic 4-head 13" tv/vcr but for the extra $$ the toby was more than worth it to me.

what I dont like:
1. The power cord coming out from the side. Why couldn't they build it like everyone else and stick it in the rear.
2. Somewhat limited in tape playback modes - still, single frame advance and slow advance. my older panasonic monitor/vcr has variable speed playback. Also, when freezing playback the toby sounds clunky - albeit it is a very stable picture.

I just recently got this tv for my birthday, and i was amazed with avery aspect of the tv. The picture quality is outstanding, and it is simple to use. The VCR is also a great feature and is a very good VCR. The sound is outstanding, but the only thing i didnt like about this is when you use the slow funtion for your VCR there is a clunking sound, but i really dont care because i never use it. Timer Recording was simple and the remote is very easy to use. This TV is perfect for your bedroom

I bought this TV/VCR Combo March 2002. It has a very clear picture and fits perfectly in my bedroom. I have whatch several hundred hours and it's still as brite and clear as the day I first turned it on. The Flat Screen technology is nice, and even though a year isn't a great judge of depenability I feel it will contribute toward the reputable name Toshiba has become in electronics. The VCR is a little mechanical starting and stopping but not a problem with me.
