Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Enjoy your entire entertainment collection with the HD-ready 27-inch Toshiba MW26G71 flat CRT combo television, which includes a built-in VCR and DVD player. It has a built-in 181-channel NTSC tuner and can display HDTV with a separate, optional HD receiver. It also features a multi-format memory card reader that's compatible with Secure Digital (SD), MultiMedia (MMC), Memory Stick, and XD cards. In addition to playing movie discs, the DVD player is also compatible with music stored in either MP3 or WMA digital formats on CD-R and CD-RW discs. The CD JPEG Viewer enables you to display digital photo slide shows. Simply load the CD with your favorite photos and create custom slide shows with a few simple clicks of the player's remote control.

Toshiba's 19-micron VCR heads match precisely the width of the SP and SLP azimuths and read only the signal recorded on each azimuth (not adjoining tracks). Other VCR features include auto tracking, 8-event/1-month programming, and one-touch record.

Toshiba's FST PURE flat tube design delivers increased viewing angles, enhanced picture linearity and reduced light reflections to produce accurate lifelike images. It features a widescreen picture aspect ratio (16:9; standard TVs have a 4:3 aspect ratio), which is the ideal screen format for viewing widescreen video from DVD players and the growing availability of broadcast programming off digital HDTV tuners (HD content is always widescreen), cable boxes and satellite receivers.

The 3DYC (4 MB, 10 Bit) digital comb filter eliminates most video noise normally seen in RF and composite video signals. This advanced filter analyzes sequential fields of information to eliminate dot crawl and color bleed. Additionally, the 3D Y/C Comb Filter significantly reduces detail noise, seen as shimmering or flicker, in complex or intricately detailed scenes.

The StableSound feature maintains television volume within a preset range regardless of the source signal, eliminating the annoyance of normal program volume being followed immediately by extremely loud commercial messages or drastic volume fluctuations while changing channels. The MW26G71 has Coaxial Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound output. It features the following video and audio connections:

  • Composite video/audio In: 2 (1 front, 1 rear)
  • S-Video In: 2 (1 front, 1 rear)
  • HDMI In: 1
  • RF: 1
HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV or monitor.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'll add my "5 stars" to the reviews..., January 1, 2006

Dandy TV... Our third Toshiba, but first wide screen. I thought I had made a mistake until I found the option to stretch the picture both ways. The scrolling feature is nice. It gives you a choice of whether you see more at the top, the bottom or split the difference...

I set it up with the S video cable to the satellite receiver, and used the regular cable connection to feed the satellite to the rest of the house through the old antenna wiring... The picture on the Toshiba is perfect, and losing one splitter from the system improved reception all over the house...

I love that the VCR and DVD is built in. Really simplified installation and the lack of "clutter" is a major plus.

Now let's talk Amazon service! I ordered this TV on 12/21... Knowing full well it wouldn't arrive in time for my Birthday or Christmas. Estimated delivery was the 27th... That was fine...

Imagine my surprise when I checked the tracking number again - it was scheduled to arrive on the 23rd.... And it did!

It was put into service the next day - on my 65th birthday...

;0))

4.0 out of 5 stars Not too Shabby..., March 12, 2006
This review is from: Toshiba MW26G71 26-Inch Widescreen TV/DVD/VCR Combo HDTV Ready (Electronics)
I needed a TV for our bedroom to replace a 9" Toshiba with a DVD player - just too small. We have very young children and watch most of our TV viewing in our room after they are in bed. After much research, decided on this unit. Here's my experience with Amazon.

First unit shipped via UPS. They (UPS) beat the box to a pulp. Refused Delivery - Shipped it back due to damage to the TV.

Amazon shipped a new unit within 24 hrs - this time via Fedex 3day select. TV arrived a day early, however Fedex just left it next to my garage without getting a signature. Fortunately the box was in good condition and more importantly the TV was in great shape.

Actual TV performance. For price - Great! Enjoy the larger screen, DVD player, and ability to record to VHS. Have to adjust a bit to the Wide Screen Stretch when viewing 3:2 standard TV - of course it's adjustable. We have basic cable, but it's still a nice picture.

One note (reason for 4 stars): This TV is deeper then the specs state! I had to punch a hole out of my Armoire which I was trying to avoid. It's actually 19 7/8" deep. Even the box is correct, but the Toshiba website and Amazon are both INCORRECT.

2.0 out of 5 stars Major flaw in otherwise nice TV, March 14, 2006

I agree with the other reviewers. The TV has beautiful picture and many pluses.

But there is a major flaw that should not be overlooked.

This TV does not have analog audio outputs -this means you cannot output the sound of any TV stations or the sound from the VCR to a sound system. You are therefor stuck with only listening to TV stations and VCR through the cheap little speakers in the TV.

The digital audio output is for the DVD only and the digital outputs will not output the sound of TV stations or the VCR - so forget that as a solution.

and - There is no way to listen to the VCR or TV Staions with headphones either.

If you do not intend to use a sound system with the TV - and are happy with listening to the VCR amd TV stations through its little speakers - then this doesnt matter to you and you will be quite happy with this TV -

If you want to use a sound system to hear good sound from TV Staions and the VCR - then this TV is unacceptable - as it was for me.

PS -

I noticed that many did not like my review. If anyone knows of a way to play TV stations and the VCR through an external sound system. - Id like to know what it is
