5.0 out of 5 stars Toshiba does it again
I was pleasantly surprised to find a "combo" that lived up to it's advertisments. Set-up was a snap and and all elements functioned well. I consider it a worth while purchase if you are looking for a CRT TV.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great picture, but needs better components

This review is from: Toshiba MW27FP1 27-Inch TV/DVD/VCR Combo (Electronics)
Bought this tv for master bedroom. Great picture, nice size, looks really good aesthetically. Is significantly smaller (depth) than the 24 inch jvc it replaced.

The problem with the tv is the extra components, namely the dvd and vcr. Both are noisy and slow to respond when a command is entered. The vcr takes about 5 seconds to spool-up (very noisy) every time the tv is turned on, and again when the tv is turned off. If you inadvertently press the power button and turn off the tv, you have to wait for this process to complete before you can turn it on again. Note that it does this regardless of whether you have a tape inserted in the vcr. The dvd player just seems cheap, the on-screen displays are ugly and the drive is noisy.

Lastly the remote control stinks! While it has all the major buttons you will need, each of them is tiny and there is so many of them (buttons) that finding the right one to push can be very challenging, especially in the dark.

One other thing, when channel-surfing using the up-down button on the remote, the television goes blank for about a second between channels, then the picture "pops" in. This "pop" is sometimes accompanied by a loud noise that sounds like static. It's hard to express, but the channel changing should be smoother.

In summary, I bought this tv over a cheaper Panasonic, mostly because I feel confident in the Toshiba name. If I had it to do again, I would buy the Panasonic and save myself the eighty-dollar premium I paid to own the Toshiba.
