BUYER BEWARE CHEAP LCD SCREEN!!,
By *Eyez 0f a Tragedy* (memphis, tn usa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Toshiba Satellite L505D-LS5002 Laptop (Personal Computers)
I had this laptop for only a couple months when the LCD screen cracked all the way across with the simple pressure of closing and opening the laptop. Laptop was never abused or dropped. Did some searching online and seems a lot of people had same problem with this model..and oh yeah..it WAS under warranty..but did toshiba fix it?? NO.. they did not. Sure they offered to replace the LCD..for 370.00
Needless to say..I'm currently using this laptop hooked up to a desktop monitor..Waste of 400.00 :(

Toshiba Satellite L505D-LS5002 Review,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Toshiba Satellite L505D-LS5002 Laptop (Personal Computers)
The laptop itself is great for what I need. It's fast and it has wonderful features (Post-it Notes-love them). Shipping and service from seller was awesome. Laptop was a little larger than I expected, but I don't have any issues traveling with it. My only peeve is that the batter power sucks! If you don't have your power cord, don't expect to get any more than maybe 60-90mins of battery life....which can be a problem depending on where you are and what your doing. This is the only reason this laptop gets 4 stars instead of 5 stars from me.

Solid Machine For The Price,

This is Ryan's Wife
When I tell you that I spent hours researching laptops please believe me, because it's true. And the truth is what I am going to give you about this laptop. I paid about $440 for this machine and I have not once believed that I was overcharged. I bought this with the intention of using it long enough to buy a much more expensive system with lots of power and speed. When purchasing a computer you can only have, at most, 2 out of 3 with Power, Speed & Cost. I went with the most speed I could get for the cost. Here are my pros and cons: Pro: Has 10-key, is faster than my 5 year old HP laptop, comes with Win 7(looove it), SD card slot(handy with only 2 USB ports), surprisingly little bloatware, has smooth playing DVD/CD drive and writer, very nicely sized widscreen monitor with excellent color, long power cord In between a pro and a con: Battery life is 3.5-4 hours as advertised this is neither a bad or good thing, just the truth of the matter. A pro to that is that it fully charges pretty dang quick Cons: Gets a little warm on the lap(but the fan vent is to the side which keeps lap temps less than they could be and acts as a handy finger warmer in the winter). The screen is glossy so under certain lighting conditions there is a decent amount of glare, but I have gotten used to it. The built in speakers suck butt, however the sound quality with headphones is quite acceptable. The volume wheel never stops so you can't tell if you are at the min or max volume without looking for it on the screen somewhere(though it does have a better range than my old laptop). As far as I'm concerned my cons are little nitpicky things, accept for the speakers and for the price I would only have returned the system if plugging in headphones sucked as well. I've had this system since the middle of October 2010 and it is now January 2011. I waited on purpose to be able to give a more accurate review. I hate when people give a review right out of the box without even turning whatever it is on. If I could change two things on this machine without the cost going up they would be better speakers and about 10-15% more speed. Just enough speed to be able to run Windows Media Player while having my IM program open, photo files, the internet and Photoshop. I'm a multi-tasker. But I knew going into this purchase I wasn't going to get the worlds most perfect machine. For $440 I feel I am getting out of it what I need and when I buy my swanky computer this is going to make a kick butt word processor for my aspiring writer husband :) I could have gotten a computer for about $150 more that was bigger, faster more powerful, but refurbished and I have heard too many nightmare stories about refurbished. If you want to go with new out of the box, I would highly recommend this laptop for your average laptop user. If you are a gamer stay away, it is not powerful enough. If you aren't scared of refurbished then go for it, but if you want a decent, relatively safe computer for a really good price point, go with the Toshiba Satellite L505D-LS5002
