If I could sum up this review in one word, it would be "WOW!".
This laptop totally rocks, from the second generation i7 processor, 8 gb of RAM, 750 gb hard drive, Blueray writer, and 1080p display, to the great graphics card, generous ports and overall functionality, this would be a pretty good deal as it is. True, you can get something with a top of the line graphics card for around the same price, but you won't get the...
GLASSES FREE 3D! And yes, it is nothing short of amazing. While the sharpness isn't as clear as a big screen 3D tv that requires glasses, the visual effect is just as gratifying. Textures, and especially words, look somewhat blocky due to the nature of the lenticular 3D technique Toshiba uses to free you of the need for glasses. Speaking of techniques, Toshiba uses the webcam to track your head movement so you always get the maximum 3D effect. The short side of this is that only one person can view the 3D content. Also, the screen resolution is changed to 720 p so you lose detail and things, especially type, look blocky and can be difficult to read.
Included is a set of drivers that upconvert 2D content to 3D, so you can watch your regular movies in 3D. The results are somewhat mixed, but it does add some dimensionality to otherwise flat movies and videos.
Did I mention gaming? The graphics card is more than adequate for running the latest DX11 games in high Rez. The kicker is that you will be able to play your games in 3D in a future update from Toshiba, (if the game supports it, and many do). UPDATE... Toshiba has no idea when or even if they will get games working on this machine in 3d, so I really can't recommend this at this time.
