Currently the best 32" LCD for the price,
This review is from: Toshiba REGZA 32RV530U 32-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV (Electronics)
Pros:- Best part of this TV is the Over the Air (OTA) tuner to get free public broadcast TV stations. Used a paper-clip as the antenna and received over a dozen HD/digital stations with perfect reception in the Washington DC metro area without any dropouts. No cable for me, literally. - Excellent picture, especially after playing around with all color options. The color can be adjusted to anyone's preference, because it has separate color adjustments for red, blue, green, yellow, magenta and cyan, as well as, preset adjustments. 1080p display is great for graphics or if using it with a computer. I starred at a lot of 720p displays before ordering this one, for me, I can see better detail (especially background and graphics) with a 1080p display from 8' away. - Comes on in 2.5 seconds. Try timing how long it takes to turn on any other manufacturer or previous model year TVs. Channel changes almost instantaneous about 1-2 sec, great for channel surfing. With OTA HD/digital stations this was a challenge for a lot of TVs. - Sound quality is very good and loud if you need it. At 20% it's loud enough to fill a medium sized room. - Low price. If you search enough you can get it at a lower price than last year's 720p models on clearance or refurbished. Cons: - Specs on this TV are not always accurate, different specs. on Toshiba's website vs. owner's manual vs. on the box. For example when I weight my 32RV530U it is 26.5 pounds, which is better for me. I wonder what other specs are off. - Some fuzzyness with fast moving objects, maybe due to refresh rate (5-8ms)or 10 bit panel or 12 or 14 bit processor (listed in owner's manual. Whatever the true specs are this TV looks great either way for TV watching or used as a computer monitor.

I received the TV 3 days after ordering it from Beach Audio via Amazon. Arrived safe and sound, no dead pixels either. So far I am very pleased with the set. It took about 10 minutes to set up. As others have discussed it is a great looking set. I was hesitant to buy a TV with that black piano finish, because originally I thought it to be a little tacky, trendy and cheap looking. But Toshiba made it look good! It's nowhere near as shiny as I thought it would be.Now for the picture. It arrived with the picture set to "Sports" mode. This was too bright and over saturated for my taste. I switched to "Standard" mode and the colors are richer without being overly warm or loosing crispness. The set has a picture mode for "Movies" as well, and it really does give the display a movie-theateresque character. As for SD display, Id rate it at about 8/10. A relative's 42" 1080p Sony Bravia XBR displays these channels the same as or a little worse than the 32rv530u. Comcast HD movies on demand look incredible through the Motorola SCH3200 box with HDMI output. Overall, for this price, this is likely the best 32"-- and besides the Sharp, the only-- 1080p LCD on the market. I am anxiously awaiting my PS3 so I can bask in the glory of a 1080p signal.

I've owned this set for several weeks now and am very impressed by the overall picture quality. The images are sharp, the blacks are reasonably deep, the colors are well balanced, and there is no backlight bleeding. I recommend turning down the backlight to 50 or less (mine is at 40) to get the best picture. Sound quality is only mediocre but I use mine with a 5.1 surround system, so that is not a problem for me. I don't know how this set compares to Sony or Samsung because those sets will not fit in my cabinet, the Toshiba does - which is another plus for people with tight spaces. BTW, the dimensions given on the US web site for the set are incorrect - they slightly overstate the actual dimensions. Go to the Canadian website for the correct dimensions if this is critical to you. Also the owner's manual is available through the Canadian website.

Perfect Smaller LCD TV,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Toshiba REGZA 32RV530U 32-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV (Electronics)
This product was perfect for me. The delivery time was right on time. It only took 5 days to arrive. Everything was in perfect condition.Pros: Perfect 1080p tv which is hard to find with a 32" model. PLays blue-ray games and movies great with exceptional picture. The blacks are very black and virutally no cloudiness that I can see. Excellent number of inputs. Menus look very nice and easy to use. Cons: None that I have noticed so far and I have ownweed it one month while running a ps3. All in all. If you are looking for a nice 1080p TV but don't want some thing huge. This tv is perfect. I have limited space but still wanted the best picture I could get and this TV is great. The price was amazing aswell considering all the specs that it has. I think this is the best deal for smaller LCD TVS out there right now.

Okay product until it broke, poor customer service!,
This review is from: Toshiba REGZA 32RV530U 32-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV (Electronics)
We purchased our TV almost 1 year ago and at first LOVED it. It had good sound, a good picture, and was very user-friendly. But then...It acted up starting about 6 months in. The video display would go black upon start up and we would have sound but no picture. The problem would correct itself when the TV was power-cycled. More recently, the TV picture went blank and never came back on. We called for a repair since the product was still under warranty and it's been more than a month since it broke and we still do not have a suitable fix! Now they want to replace the display board - which costs more than the television itself! And...its going to take more than 3 weeks to get the part in and installed! The broken TV may be a single case out of many good reviews, but the customer service I've been receiving has been horrible. To me its unacceptable that the TV has been out of service for more than a month and I'm still waiting. The good news is that the TV broke while under warranty! I'd really watch the company you buy the TV from. They are ultimately honoring their warranty, but the customer service is poor and the timining is worse!

I purchesed this Toshiba TV over 5 years ago and it has only been turned off when the power company quits sending electricity to my home. I have it connected to both my satellite TV receiver and my desktop computer. "Works fine & lasts a long time" - I just hope that it is still working when I get home this evening, as you know what happens when you start bragging about how good something is!!!!! I plan to buy another Toshiba TV when the time comes, as I have had no problems at all with this one.

This television only worked for 2 days, then it would not turn on. The advice from Toshiba was to unplug it and plug it in again--did not work. This brand new TV has now been out getting fixed for 2 weeks and we have been told that it will be another 2 weeks to order another part. Not happy with this TV at all.

I will be brief: I had an older Toshiba 32HL67 that was broken due to a daughter and an errant drumstick. That one was incredible and I replaced it with a Sony Brevia 32 inch TV. I'm sure it was "ok" but the color was blocky, the curves on the TV things were jagged, it just looked terrible. So I bought this TV. Good lord, it is perfect. Even on the lowest standard definition composite video everything looks incredible. Colors are bright and there is no block-like artifacts. The edges of curves are smooth and flawless even when blown up to the full screen size. The speed is no problem for Rock Band on a PS2. And the HD performance is unbelievable. Menus are easy to follow, and setup is a snap with a good manual. The only problem is once you start to use these REGZA models you will not be able to go back to a mere Samsung or Sony TV. It's just a different class in itself. CZ

I purchased this t.v the other day and i was stunned. The t.v i had before this was a 19" Samsung putting out 720p,so this was a big step up.This Toshiba puts out crystal clear 1080p full HD. Which if your into Video games such as the PS3 or Xbox 360 is awesome .I run my Blu-ray and DVD's thru HDMI and and they look awesome. If you have an HD cable box and HDMI hookups this thing will not disappoint. I would have to say, before this i was not a fan of toshiba products but this t.v is a spectacular product and i defiantly recommend it. Another great feature is this t.v has FOUR HDMI hookups which is awesome. No more reaching behind and unplugging and plugging things back in. The sound is pretty amazing being as i do not have my surround sound hooked up to it yet. Its a bit pricey but if you are going to pay 600 for a Sony or another name brand thats only putting out 720p its totally worth dropping the extra cash and experiencing full true HD. **** I read the two star review about this t.v and how it started to get gray lines running down after a couple months. Keeping in mind i have only had the t.v for a couple weeks but i did buy the extended warranty just incase. Personally i do not see this happening, and it seems to only have happened to one person.

DON'T BUY TOSHIBA!,

This review is from: Toshiba REGZA 32RV530U 32-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV (Electronics)
We bought a 32" Toshiba REGZA HDTV in October 2007. Last week -- on the morning of the inauguration, in fact -- the picture went blank, and now I'm told it will cost more to fix than to get a new one. The TV was only three months out of factory warranty. I just got off the phone with customer service, and they are totally unwilling to offer any compensation (even a token gesture) for this lemon.Needless to say, we won't be buying any more Toshiba products -- and I advise you to learn from our lesson! We thought the TV was great while it was working, but clearly there are serious durability problems. Also, an important technical detail: in the Toshiba REGZA series, the inverter board is attached to the screen. This is the part that broke. But since these two pieces are attached, the cost of replacement is astronomical -- you can't replace the inverter board on its own. |
