First of all, I was skeptical and was looking at the Samsung and LG sound bar too. I was going to get the LG because it had the USB music playback, but it does not have the HDMI inputs so I got the Toshiba Sound bar instead because all my devices are HDMI.

To my surprise it sounds awesome! I love the 150W active wireless sub woofer and the remote control even has a sub woofer control on it which is great because sometimes a movie has less bass and I can crank it to 10 and the explosion would shake my house.

I also like the SRS TruBass and TruSurround. Music, movies and other content I was playing sounded very spatial like I am there. Hotel California Live acoustic was just fantastic with SRS enabled!

I love the other features as well such as 2 HDMI, Stereo Bluetooth, 2 optical, 2 analog, cool design and the active wireless sub woofer that I can place anywhere. I only wish they would add USB with power charging or something to charge my iPhone :)

Maybe I am asking too much, but all in all, you won't be disappointed with this Toshiba 300W sound bar.

I just got my soundbar today. Hooked it up easy- Red and white cables to my comcast box, optical cable to my Blue Ray, popped in DVD of Pink Floyd Pulse. The surround sound is amazing I could only put the sound up to 25 when it started to hurt! adjustable bass, treble, and wireless sub. The sound is fantastic. I wear 2 hearing aids and had to have subtitles on everything I watched because the audio was so bad on my 40" Panasonic. I took off the subtitles now the sound is sharp and so clear. Im just sorry I waited 3 years to do this. Toshiba SBX4250 2.1 Channel 300 Watt Sound Bar with Subwofer

3/28/2013 update: I added the ", But Update Pending" to the title. My original review is below. The unit started developing a constant, high pitch ringing noise (similar to a ringing in the ears) after about 45 days of use. I would exchange for another unit at the store I bought from, but that store has a 30 day return policy so I'm going go through the warranty process. I'm a little concerned the next unit may develop the same issue because I've come across other reviews stating the same thing. Has anyone else noticed this problem after the first few months? If the next unit has this issue, I'll warranty again, sell the unboxed unit on Craiglist, get something else, and update this review to a 1 star rating. Hopefully I just lost a game of Russian roulette with this unit that I have and the next unit won't have this problem because before this issue developed, I was very happy with it.

6/18/2013 update: I warrantied original unit and the replacement unit has not developed this issue after 3 months so I'm happy (so far) and stand by my 4 star rating. I changed the ", But Update Pending" in title to make note that I had to warranty a unit.

***original review***

I'm not normally compelled to review, but I just wanted to add in my $0.02 for anyone else searching for a sound bar. I first bought a Yamaha YAS-101, and while that sound bar was adequate I felt it was really lacking in the bass/sub department (which makes sense since the woofer is built-in, but I thought I'd be able to live with it). I would've kept the Yamaha, but the left speaker had a very audible crackle so it had to go. Anyway, before purchasing the Yamaha initially, it was between that, this Toshiba SBX4250 and Sony's CT260 (if I had an external woofer, I wanted it to be wireless).

Hi There...It was my 3rd year Anniversary with my girlfriend and I didn't have a clue as to what to get her until her daughter mentioned to me that she liked my Sound Bar that I have at home which is not a Toshiba and wished she could have one of her own in her house, well that's when I started shopping around at bestbuy and Brandsmart USA and came across several Sound Bars for all under 300 hundred dollars. I tested several including Boston Aqostics, Samsung, Sony and finally the Toshiba Sound Bar. Hands down the Toshiba Sound Bar 4250SBX was and still is a true winner for me and her. When we got home I made all the connections onto her flat with a single Optical cable running from the back of her flat directly to her new 4250 SBX sound bar. The sound quality was okay while on stereo mode but when you activated the SRS Tru surround and Tru bass that clinched it for us, The Sound was AWESOME!!!! clarity was superb plus the blutooth connectivity was an extra bonus that you can connect to any iphone or samsung wireless device. The music was playing so loud coupled with clarity and crispness that I decided to buy an additional 4250 SBX sound bar for my bedroom. Over all it was and still is a great buy. I highly recommended it to anyone looking for a sound bar of this caliber.

I bought this unit over a month ago from Big-Box. Install : DVD to the sound bars HDMI input, out of the HDMI output to the Samsung 55" HDMI input. Easy install. Wireless subwoofer is in close proximity to Tv stand. Sub faces wall and port faces open air (not towards viewers). Impressive sound for a 6.5" sub. Im guessing other reviewers are expecting the bass reproduction of 2)12" subs. Great surround sound from the bar. Just like my 1998 Optimus 5.1 600 watt. Although the display is dimmer than most, it would only be an issue if the living room is 60% sun light. I have no issues even with room lights on. This unit has MANY input/outs for gaming and satellite/cable. If it was available, I would give it 6 stars. I will recommend this to everyone. The Tv in question is the Samsung un55fh6003fxza. DVD player is the Sony bdp-s5100. People gave the Sound bar, DVD player and the Tv a bad review. Why, IDK. Check the reviews. I give them all a 5 Star rating. I have no issues.
