The silver and black system includes a space-saving combination DVD player/VCR coupled with a powered 5.1-channel speaker package. The DVD player is equipped with a ColorStream Pro progressive-scan output for superlative images on high-definition and HD-ready televisions, and in addition to full surround processing the system also plays your homemade CDs filled with MP3, WMA, and JPEG sound and image files. The VCR section offers 4-head, hi-fi playback and recording with convenient front-panel inputs for your camcorder, gaming device, or second VCR.
Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the SD-V65HT's ColorStream Pro DVD player stands ready to deliver the full potential of your DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. Composite- and S-video outputs bring compatibility with nearly any television.
The SD-V65HT also features Toshiba's Digital Cinema Progressive feature (3:2 pulldown). DVD mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture.
The speaker package features 4 two-way satellite speakers (front and surround left/right, powered by 90 watts apiece), a larger center-channel speaker (for handling most dialogue and critical sound effects, also 90 watts), and a 150-watt, 7-inch subwoofer to drive home the foundation-shaking bass effects of your favorite movies. All 5 main speakers are acoustically matched for seamless blending.
Surround processing includes decoding of Dolby Digital, DTS, and Dolby Pro Logic II (which generates surround output from stereo sources), and an optical digital-audio input facilitates hookup with a CD recorder or alternate surround processor.
The system's Digital Photo Viewer lets you see digital JPEG photographs on any television; an intuitive onscreen display helps you customize slideshows with a few simple clicks of the remote. You can zoom, rotate, and pan the photos, as well as set the actual viewing time of each slide.
Other features include picture zoom, two auxiliary video inputs (one with S-video), and a universal remote control.

Found Item In Catalog along with its little brother #55.Chose the "better" because of Amazon's price ! Delivered in 2 days !Out of box plays great sound....until I played the new DVD Spiderman 2.The machine said...DISC ERROR.this latest model DVD player wouldn't play any NEW DVDs. Still in Shop awaiting Toshiba part delivery after three weeks!Contacted Toshiba on many occasions,I was lied to over and over,I wonder if it will ever work.........So far,I had it two days and the SHOP has had it three weeks,Do you suppose I will get it back by the time that the cheap 90 day labor warranty is up?

It was nothing too fancy about this unit. I bought it to go with my toshiba television but I could have bought any brand. There was no advantage to have both the same manufacturer. I could have found a better unit for less money.

Great sound, great functions and plays all my dvds old and new along with mp3 cds and an fm reciever! cant beat it at this price!!!
