This review is from: Toshiba SD7200 1080P Upconverting DVD Player, Black (Electronics)

Toshiba SD7200 DVD Player,

Quite disappointing considering my other Toshiba electronics have been so reliable and of high quality. This player really lag behind in every areas. Loading was slow. Pictures are just so-so. The player doesn't recognize some of the dvds I burned. I would not recommend this player. Look elsewhere.

Cheap and Works for Me,

This review is from: Toshiba SD7200 1080P Upconverting DVD Player, Black (Electronics)
This is my first freestanding DVD player, believe it or not. I play DVDs on my computer occasionally, but I wanted a separate (and cheap) DVD player for watching DVDs of TV series I had purchased. Thus my eyes widened when I saw this display model selling for 35 dollars at BJ's. Later I learned I could have bought a new one for just a little more.Set up was easy though I did get frazzled by initially connecting one of the component cables incorrectly. On screen menus are easy to understand, read, and select. The picture on my old style TV using component connections is good, while the picture on our 20" Vizio kitchen LCD television using the included HDMI cable is very good. For a minimalist like myself this inexpensive machine has all the features I'd ever use and many more. This potato head is content with play, stop, pause, forward, and reverse. I've played with the zoom button, pause and frame by frame because it's still all a novelty to me. The unit is a bit vocal when opening and closing and is a little slow to get the DVd started, but for the money I can't complain. The Toshiba is small, light, inexpensive, and more than adequately functional. For someone with modest expectations, it's not a bad choice. Technophiles or perfectionists need not consider such a bare bones player.

Issue Now Known (unknown sistortion during play,

This review is from: Toshiba SD7200 1080P Upconverting DVD Player, Black (Electronics)
I previously gave this 3 stars but it now gets 5 stars. The problem WAS NOT with this unit.-------------- I'm giving this 3 stars since the player Toshiba SD7200 1080P Upconverting DVD Player, Black has always had a slight distortion or blip during the playing of home DVDs only (not titled DVDs of movies) since delivery on December 23rd, 2009. After using 3 different DVD recorders and both Maxell and Sony DVDs with the same problem, the only conclusion is that it is this specific player. Whether a defect on this specific machine or on all players of this model number is unknown and I have contacted J&R Music to ship this back for a different brand/model.

Bought one and didn't play any music on it until after three months. Put in a CD -- no music, no warranty left.Figured it was bad luck. Bought another. After about 20 DVDs the thing stopped working. The worst piece of electronics I have ever seen. If you buy one, just go ahead and put it in the garbage, because it will end up there soon enough anyway. I wouldn't give my worst enemy one of these.

Now every disk I put in says "Bad Disk" just like the other reviews. And Toshiba won't replace it for free.I've used 8 new disc so I know its not a DVD issue, and many other blogs and chats , people have the exact same problem. This is ridiculous not to fix a known issue like that. A complete waste of money. DONT BUY !!!!

Good with an ergonomic remote control,

This review is from: Toshiba SD7200 1080P Upconverting DVD Player, Black (Electronics)
A really decent DVD player with everything one would expect at this price point. The included SE-R0313 remote control has buttons spaced out well considering normal finger thickness of an average men in USA or Europe. The DVD player offers an ergonomic remote control, richness of functions (including the very useful zoom and slow), intelligent menus (big and easy to see and navigate through), and a legible display unlike any other player in its class. it is not surprising considering that Toshiba invented the DVD. Though the front panel display has only 4 digits to show only chapter number unlike a 8-digit display in Toshiba SD3950 showing the time of already seen or remaining part. Also, it is lacking the corresponding FL SELECT function to switch between displaying said time and chapter number. However, such lack is compensated since the time of already seen or remaining part can be continuously displayed, as a little distraction, on-screen and also switched to the chapter number. Toshiba SD7300 seems to be a good choice.

Shame on Toshiba this Item is Junk not worth a Penny,

16th of May 2009 Monterey Peninsula, California USAMy Family received this Item as a Gift from my Uncle for Easter. He also gave us a Yamaha Audio/Video Unit Receiver. Well we wanted to try the Toshiba DVD Player the other day to watch a Movie I had just purchased. Well to our disappointment the Unit didn't work at all. It did nothing. I phoned Toshiba's customer service and talk about the worst customer service I had ever gotten. (Toshiba is by far the worst) I also did research online about the other Toshiba DVD Players and it seems like all the reviews are poor and rated Toshiba at the bottom of the list.... BestBuy has alot of reviews on Toshiba and none are good. Everyone who commented on Toshiba had nothing but bad stuff to say. Anyone who reads my review I am a big electronic buff. I like gadgets etc. I can't in good faith recommend Toshiba.. Run before buying this Garbage... My Samsung DVD/VHS Unit is over 10 years old and still works like new. Also my Panasonic DVD Players have been awesome.. |
