I've had this laptop for over 2 months and have had no issues what-so-ever with it. It has exceeded my expectations. I have always believed in the "you get what you pay for" moto..but with this laptop I got what I paid for and then some! I have found similar and lesser specs in other brands for far more then this Toshiba. I use this Laptop with Verizon Wireless on the road, ATT DSL at home, and Hotsposts locally,I get a flawless performance everytime. I have played MMO's, done school work, chatted, downloaded music, and file shared with it...works beautifuly. Only cons...it runs hot...invest in a Laptop Cooler for $25 bucks and the battery life could be better..so if your gonna use it a lot invest in a better battery or a 2nd one to take along. Other wise this is a great laptop for the money!!!

I am Completly satisfied.The laptop has performed beautifully, Met my expectations in every way. I have called Toshiba a couple of times just to learn more about the laptop. They have been extremly helpful and have gone beyond their normal duties to help me out and answer my questions..

This is a wonderful laptop for those looking for a larger screen and great performance. While it isn't the most portable of the notebooks out there, it more than make up for it in every other way. 2gb of memory and a 200gb hard drive are plenty of speed and storage for the typical user.

I received the laptop within a few days of the purchase. It's almost hard to tell by a pictue the quality of a product. I must say that I was clearly taken away by this laptop. Very good quality!!!

My son's lap top crashed jts before a big paper was due. This lap top provided a reliable and more speedy system to catch him back up before 6th grade graduation.

Everything was perfect until the Mother Board Fried-up just after 1 Year.
The Mother Board cost the half of a similar Brand new Laptop.

Not bad, just thought it would be a bit faster. Processor a bit slower than expected. But other than that is was pretty good computer....

I bought this lap top about 1-2 months ago. Toshiba a215-s5857. And it has done a supurb job at everything. It came with 2 gigs of ram installed but i swithced it out with 4 gigs of cruicial RAM. I also plan on buying a westeren digital 320 gig 7200RPM HDD to replace this laptops hard drive because it is only SATA 1 4200RPM eventhought amazon specs say it is 5200RPM. The cost of the better HDD will only be about 110 dollars but it one of the BEST HDD you can put into a Laptop , unless you plan on getting a SDD (solid state drive) 256 gig for about 600 dollars.
Anyways, I also deleted the Windows Vista Home Preminem 32 bit that came with this computer because Vista sucks and is slow. I put on Windows 7 (64 bit) Ultimate edidtion and it works wonders.The laptop is 64 bit capable but it only comes with a 32 bit vista operating system, so I recomend the 64 bit upgrade.
This machine is also a gameing BEAST!! you would think that it cant play any games because it only has an on board ATI 128 mb graphics card, but I have been able to play every emulator system including, nes, snes, genenis,gba,ds,ps1, and guess what ps2 games can be played on this rig also. I got Final Fantasy X working on this with about 51 FPS. You need the right plugins and setup but you can do it. ANyways, the only games I havent been able to play were, Tropico 3,Dawn of mana 1, dawn of mana 2, and also I cant play any of the nintendo game cube Emulators of the Wii Emulators becasue my pixil shader is only 2.0 or my Direct X is not capable. I have installed and played fine wiht the following games, tropico 2, the Sims 3, Titan Quest, and Sacred 1.
I defanaly reconmned this Laptop because it is soo darn cheap and is an awesoe system. But make sure you do all the upgarde possible. Upgrade ur Ram, HDD, add 4 Gig sandisk extreme SD card for ReadyBoost, get windows 7, and eventuly upgarde ur dvd drive to blue ray drive for 100 bucks. Than you will have the ultimate laptop for about 900.00 Bucks total for a system that is as powerful as a 3000.00 Dollar Laptop.

I have owned this notebook for several years, purchased from Fry's
live in person.
It was ok with vista, but I dual boot linux ubuntu and vista.
After countless hours and many people we were unable to
get the atheros wifi card to work consistantly with linux.
After win 7 beta came out I decided to load windows 7.
Then loaded Ubuntu inside win 7. Guess what wifi works 100 %.
Awsome. Something funky with config. I dont know, but it works now.
Windows 7 really makes this laptop smooth. I upgraded the memory to 4 gig and and running 64bit o/s versus the 32bit vista that the factory loaded.
I am completely satisfied with this product running win 7.
The only complaint is how smokin hot the bottom get. I really wish
notebooks could remain cooler as I am certain heat will shorted thier life.
I am still hunting for software to control the fan and maybe save some $$ on repairs later.
