Just got this laptop last night. Works very well so far. Very fast and quiet. Key broad works very easy. Set up went very smooth. So far this works as well or better than the HP I bought at Sams for $699.00 + Tax. That was a touch screen, that I did not use anyway. I am taking it back under my 30-day return. For the Price of $250.00 + Tax, I can not complain. Seems to work very well for the first 6-hours I've used it. Laptop is light duty and lighter than the HP.

ONLY ONE thing I don't like is the SD card only goes in about half way. The SD card always goes in all the way and clicks so it won't fall out. This one sticks out about half way, I hope it doesn't fall out and get lost. It sticks out past the laptop in the front --- Not Good.

Had the computer now for over a week, and I'm ready to write the review.

I checked cpubenchmark.net for the AMD E2-3800 CPU and found a nice surprise, It's right under the 2.6GHz Core2Duo T7800, around the same score as the first gen Core i3. That means for the less savvy, it has an advantage over Celerons at Celeron price range (or even less). http://amzn.to/1t3vSQk

It comes pre-installed with Windows 8.1 and runs pretty smooth, pretty lagfree for everyday tasks, like office apps and internet. The 4GB of RAM also helps. Great for students low on cash.

The design is more or less the same as other satellites, but with very stylish chrome accents, the multitouch trackpad and keyboard are the standard satellites design, so lets move on to other aspects.

The display is 15.6 inches at 1366x768, has nice viewing angles, Pushed by Radeon HD 8280 it's very nice screen for watching movies, even HD.

At first the 500GB may look small, but consider that the target of this laptop might be students, a first laptop, or backup laptop, and also consider that most high end laptops bring the same 500GB.

Normally I change the HDD to SSD, 840 PRO http://amzn.to/1zBF6aY or 840 EVO http://amzn.to/1F1zslC , but I didn't consider that I'll gain much from it. It already runs OK out of the box.

Finally the ports section, it has:

2 USB 2.0
1 USB 3.0
VGA port
HDMI port
RJ-45
SEPARATES microphone and speaker output

I like that there's VGA and HDMI, now a days you usually only find one of the two. As you can see Bluetooth's missing and since I already got use to bluetooth, like for example:

Bluetooth Speaker (Very nice and affordable Photive Cyren http://amzn.

for sure win 8 is a bad joke... toshiba's software is no joy either... way to many ADs and dumb things I don't need or want. The Samantics anti virus that came with it had to go, and to me, not worth the price of free (Malware-bytes found things it missed). It says it has a version of Office 14 but it wont run and was a fight to get rid of before it allowed me to install office 10. .But as a computer dragging a klunky virus program and win-8 (with all all the junk win-8 wants to run in the background) the AMD processor runs smoothly, so it is pretty snappy out of the box. For the kids who love menus its fine, for those who are used to doing real work on good ol win-XP this new generation of windows... well it is what it is.

Good graphics, nice set of video monitor outputs, 3 USB ports and a pretty easy to see and use mouse and keyboard are assets. Another big asset is a DVD/CD R/W optical drive many other laptops (in this price range) no longer offer.
For a powerful laptop it runs pretty cool. . I would recommend this computer... you may hate it at first but its useable .

The price is great. However, it was somewhat difficult getting all of those pre-packaged programs off the computer. And be aware this is a heavy computer. Otherwise than that I am pleased with it.

The computer is excellent! I got it for my daughter who is finishing highschool (online school) and starting to take college courses. It is fast and has 3 USB ports. It only has 4GB, but that is plenty for her and she has a portable drive too. It is really a nice computer. It also is nice looking. I just bought a $1000 Dell computer for myself and it is not much faster than hers. You will not find a better computer for this price. I looked for several weeks and shopped at Best Buy, Target, Walmart, etc. No other computer even came close in specs for this price. Very good buy! You will not regret it!

This laptop runs exceedingly well for its price. Although it may not be much to look at in terms of aesthetics, it runs smooth with little performance hiccups running everyday tasks. It does struggle a bit when pushed to run more high fidelity programs, but that is to be expected. Running multiple programs at once is easily done thanks to its 4gb of RAM. My only gripe with the machine is it's very poor sound quality, not only from the external speakers, but also the headphone jack as well. It is a very BIG disappointment to listen to music or any audio source. That is no exaggeration.

The keyboard feels nice and spacious. It is nice to have a number-pad which many laptops neglect. However, the mouse-pad left/right buttons feel cheap and may be easily broken over extended-use. I recommend preforming all of one's clicking by tapping the track pad instead, which performs well.

The machine's fan runs quiet and the laptop rarely becomes hot, only during high performance does one notice it at all. The screen itself is beautiful and well lit, although one does notice a grainy, snowy effect when viewing any dark grey backgrounds, like ones found when selecting a picture on Google Images. It is subtle, but definitely noticeable. The battery life is reasonable, but certainly not the best.

It may be one of the better laptops out there at its price point, but it is not without its faults.
