The box contained the laptop, a user manual, and the power brick/cord. It doesn't come with Restore Media, but you can make it with three 4.7GB DVDs. The first thing I noticed was the big screen which has a really nice resolution and it's really bright. They keyboard is full size, and has a full numeric keypad on the right. The touch pad is centered under the spacebar, so therefore it's a little more to the left than my previous laptop was. The speakers are so-so, there isn't much bass and it's not as loud as my last laptop. I haven't taken the laptop anywhere yet, so I can't comment on the battery life. It comes preloaded with several Toshiba applications, Norton Internet Security, Wild Tangent Games and a few other things. It didn't have as much bloatware as I thought it would. Windows 8 is hit or miss, depending on if you are old school (like me) or like the tablet style interface. I installed a program called "Classic Shell" and it puts the start button back on the desktop and makes it act like Windows 7.
I think the laptop is fast and I'm satisfied with its performance. Obviously it won't match the performance of a $1,000 laptop, but I think for the money it's a good value. (especially at the Black Friday Price of $309)

I probably restarted the computer about 50 times in the one day that I owned this laptop trying to do updates and fixes to the problems I was having. In the end I just had to return it because it was having problems that were unfixable. The mouse never worked (and yes I did try pushing the lock and unlock mouse button so it wasn't that) and the keyboard got so bad that a couple times when I restarted it it wouldn't work at all. I ended up getting different laptop that is 10000 times better than this one. I really recommend this laptop: http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-IdeaPad-15-6-Inch-Laptop-59406417/dp/B00HIYA4F2/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_t
Yes it's smaller and costs more but it is so worth it. I will never buy another Toshiba laptop again after that fiasco. Avoid a major headache and STAY AWAY from this Toshiba laptop.

I was very disappointed with this laptop. On the plus side, I liked the feel of the keyboard. Downside, the screen visibility was terrible...like a cheap flat screen TV. Read morePublished on December 29, 2013 by DeAnne
