I recently purchased this new Toshiba laptop through Amazon.com to be used for College and so far I am really happy with it. UPS arrived at my door literally within 24hrs. after ordering it! After the initial set up it booted up just fine. After a couple of Vista automatic upgrades and it seems to be working like a charm with no technical hang-ups. The PC came bundled with a trial version of Norton 360(2.0) which I installed right away which allowed me to protect myself from the Internet and also back up my initial files to CD media. Really nice product Toshiba!

Why on Earth Toshiba chose to use shiny black plastic for the surface of this laptop I'll never know. For an Adrian Monk-ish freak like me, the fingerprints are going to be hard to get used to. The finger pad to move the pointer with is fantasticly devoid of prints which makes me wonder why this texture wasn't used throughout.

Ignoring the cosmetics, the screen is pratically gigantic and very bright, both pluses in my book.

Another positive is the dial-controlled volume for the speakers. Much more senstive than the + and - on most laptops. This prevents the "silent to too loud" and lets you pick with much more accuracy the level of sound.

All in all, a good buy for the price.

this is an excellent laptop for everyday tasks like email, document & photo editing, itunes etc. it is not a gaming machine. it is among the lightest in its class at 5.4 pounds and looks solidly built. the preinstalled vista premium boots up fast. no issues that I can think of. some sites have talked about the power plug coming loose inside the laptop; hope toshiba has fixed it in this model. i removed the shovelware and norton, installed avg and IE8 and it works great.

The Toshiba Satellite L305-S5961 arrived on time and in perfect condition. It is as described by Amazon,and the reviews available at the time. The screen is very bright; the set-up simple and quick. I am uncertain about the 360 Norton Security package at this time. We are operating the computer with a WiFi Router, which is working well. Toshiba could have been more extensive with its instructions. So far we are satisfied after three weeks of operation.

I've had my Satellite L305 for 16 months now and I must mention that it has performed delightfully. It gets many hours of use a day and I have never had any problems with it. It is sufficiently fast, totally reliable, flexible (at time, I use an external monitor and a wireless keyboard and mouse with it with no problems, and I was easily able to set it up to dual-boot Ubuntu Linux).

The only thing that prevents it from getting a 5-star review is my own personal bias (I don't like laptops) and that fact that there have been times when the dvd drive gets a bit wonky, as it has gone through some spells where it won't find any disk that you put in unless you reboot. As this is the only computer I have ever had that lists the optical drive twice, as both D: and E: (one is DVD and one is HD DVD), I was somewhat skeptical about it anyway. But I use the optical drive very rarely, so it hasn't had much impact, and it usually works just fine anyway.

Ya tengo un año con la maquina y hasta ahora ha funcionado perfectamente, sin contratiempo alguno, salvo que en algunas ocaciones se pone un poco lenta pero vuelve a su velocidad rapidamente. Mi trabajo no es muy exigente por lo que no sé como seria con algun grado de exigencia mas alto que el mio. La quemadora tambien ha trabajado perfectamente. Es una buena opcion de compra

This is my first Toshiba laptop (I've had three Dells). I like the large screen and the keyboard touch is just right. Color on the screen is fabulous and great for watching movies ande TV shows. I use wireless and work with it on my lap on a cushioned laptop device and exclusively use the mouse on the laptop rather than a external mouse. I have only one minor complaint: the laptop is a glossy black and it shows every fingerprint and smudge, so I'm always cleaning it.

I bought this laptop for in-law and she love to use it checking email and browsing internet.

I got it for my wife over six months ago and it has been good to her. She is a nursing student and drops her laptop about once a week. This one has been able to withstand multiple impacts with the floor without problem. Maybe we have just been lucky but I am of the opinion that when my laptop dies, I will most likely order a Toshiba product myself.

I've had this computer for several months now and I love it. I selected it because it was a "best buy" selection on Consumer Reports at the time. It is light and handles all the tasks I need. I use it a lot for presentations including music, DVDs and Powerpoint. It replaced my old Dell notebook and performs as well for a lot less. I use Norton virus protection on it, have not upgraded to Windowa 7 yet and use Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007. It is my home computer so have not run large spreadsheets requiring lots of processing power. It has my strong recommendation.
