Very satisfied with my Toshiba purchase and no problems. This computer has a "2012" i3-2350M with powerful imbedded graphics and is very fast. Only brand of laptop I will buy because of its reputation for reliability and quality; is the Toyota of laptops. These are the most important reasons for me. My second Toshiba laptop.
Some previous negative reviews seem phony to me because they mention purchases 1-2 years ago when model L755-S5169 with the "2012" i3 2350M was not even available. Others omit the model# or are not Amazon Verified Purchases.

I just bought the Toshiba L755-5169 series Satellite Laptop. My HP dv7-1130us Entertainment Pavilion Notebook died recently after 3 1/2 years. I wanted a computer that was equal to or better than my HP that I adored. I shopped around at various stores and online through the manufacture websites comparing specifications, features and design, making sure to stay away from HP because of their known issues. My family has recently bought Toshiba laptops and I thought it might be a choice for me. After comparing, I found myself looking strongly at the Toshibas and I decided on this model.

My HP was a top-of-the-line dv7 that I purchased for $849. The Toshiba laptop was for sale NEW on Amazon.com for $499.

My dv7 basic specs and features I compared:

The Toshiba compared well with my HP and even upgraded a little as well. The price difference between the two was huge! The HP was purchased at $849 versus the Toshiba at $499 (MSRP is $579).

I am thoroughly satisfied with the decision to purchase the Toshiba L755-S5169 Satellite laptop. My HP handled a good size load of software usage and long daily usage. I was more than able to complete projects that demanded a lot of processing, memory and graphics usage. Based on my research on comparions, I believe the Toshiba can handle multiple task prosessing efficeiently and effectively.

I am also impressed with the cooling system of the Toshiba L755-S5169 as compared to my HP dv7 (which has a known poor cooling system). The Toshiba has been in my lap for approx. 4 hours off and on a table without a cooling pad during software installation and file transfer. I feel better cool air circulation and warm air dissapation, as long as the vents are not blocked. The Toshiba stays much cooler than my HP dv7 during the same or lesser load and under the same handling.

The Keyboard is easy to use, if you are use to a laptop that has the controllable touchpad and 10key pad. Otherwise, it may seem ackward and slow typing speed, as the standard laptop keyboard does to me. Also, if a model doesn't have the ability to turn off the touchpad like this model does, it may interfere with typing and could be frustrating with screen issues and jumping cursers.

This computer is great for students of all ages (I was a college student with my HP), Business professionals (like me - real estate), photographers (like me), etc. I'm not sure about gamers because I haven't tested any games, but I don't they will be too disappointed when trying to play their RPGs.

The only thing I am concerned about, which only time will tell, is how long the computer will last. I have heard that many older model laptops have lasted over 5 years and I hope the new ones will, too. Local Houston computer repair techs do tell me that Toshiba is a quality computer and don't repair too many of them, unlike the HPs especially the dv7 models. I hope Toshiba continues with quality work. Therefore, I only gave 4 stars for the product. If it lasts, I will give it 5 stars.

If you do decide to purchase this computer, I wish you tons of luck and I hope you enjoy it.

TOSHIBA DOES NOT HONOR THEIR OWN GUARANTEE! Soon after I purchased a Toshiba lap top, I found something wrong with the power cord portal. The battery would not charge.

Toshiba had me mail the computer to them. It was returned unfixed. They said customer abuse caused the problem. I spoke to several "case managers" at Toshiba. Each one kept repeating that Toshiba's warranty does not cover customer abuse and that the technician said that something had been jabbed into the port and damaged it. Nothing I said made a difference.

I ended up taking the computer to a local independent technician who opened up the laptop, replaced a six inch connecting cord, and now all is well. It cost me $75. The cord that needed replacing was not damaged. It looked fine. It was simply defective.

Don't expect satisfactory service from Toshiba. They'll take your money and then they're through with you. I'll never buy from Tobisha again.

The battery life is horrible on this item, but the computer works just fine. Kids got a hold of it and dropped it, and the hard drive got cracked.
