I bought this for a friend and we got it up and running this morning. I am impressed by a number of things.
A very sharp screen, and one that is a touch screen. It works very well.
The finger pad is one of the best I've used.
It has more USB ports then my laptop which is much bigger. It also has an eSata port which allows for fast external drives or an external BluRay player/burner.
The sound is quite good for a device this size. The keyboard is very good.
It was easy to connect to my WiFi router. It can also make a wired connection.
It does have some of the usual "trial software" that you may want to get rid of.
I would recommend a better anti-virus then the one that comes with it.
This would a good machine for a student or someone who needs it for basic things.
It will not be good if you want to run 3 or 4 big programs at the same time. I have only one minor complaint. As far as I can tell it does not have a latch.

I bought this laptop for its features and price. In that regard its a great buy. I use it mainly as a portable music studio. I have tons of music software on it and performs brilliantly with out crashing under the heavy CPU demands of these programs as all my other computers have.
Originally I was a little disappointed with the sensitivity of the touchpad while trying to type. Thanks to another Amazon member, I am now aware of how to shut the touchpad down and just use an external mouse. There's a little button right above the touch pad - genius.

wanted to buy a laptop that their performance was very good and is capable of supporting multimedia applications and found it with this machine, the product arrived without problems, I recommend

I bought this laptop in April and after using it for 27 days it stopped working, showing me the famous blue screen that appears on pc that use windows. I sent it to the Toshiba offices in my city, and they said that the problem it has is the board. I have been waiting for over a month, and it hasn't been solved yet, because they said that the part that was missing didn't exist. I think the service they are providing is awful, knowing that the laptop has been recently purchased and that it is supposed to have a "good" warranty.

I am very happy with this computer. I saw it first fro less than I paid, but they went fast, and then I couldn't find them anymore for a while, so when I saw it again at a slightly higher price, I went ahead and bought it. I would have loved to get it at a lower price, but I am still happy that I got it, and it was still less than retail.

The laptop is ok but not really as nice as the HP's I have been using most of my life. It runs much warmer and is plastic. The HP I have purchased in the past have had a nice metal body. I also purchased at Costco so I get a 2 year warranty standard. This one is going back to Amazon

i purchased this for myself...i think this is my 3rd toshiba laptop. my last toshiba started overheating really badly after 2 1/2 years...so i bought this 14" one. i've had it for 11 months and it's still in great condition. i have noticed it has started overheating like my last one.

Bought this laptop in the summer and works wonderful. Love the size as it is just right for browing or doing school work. I take online classes and this has worked wonderfully for me.

I got this for my wife-- her first computer. She'd used my daughter's touchscreen while babysitting our granddaughter, so this was the item for her. She's gradually learned about email, browsers and a little about the Internet. I was so impressed by the quality of this laptop that I ordered a Toshiba Satellite for myself (albeit a larger, more powerful unit, since I do much more with mine). My wife is happy with her laptop. It's solid, quiet, and seems quite durable, although we haven't had it very long.
