Pros: Great size! Light weight. Good speakers. Nice keyboard. Windows 7 is pretty cool.
Cons: Fan blows hot air out the side. Power cord is really hot! Seems a little slow with some data.

The look and feel of the laptop is awesome! It's very easy to organize on Windows 7. Screen has a good picture. I like the features of sleep and music. The sound is also decent for a laptop. The touchpas features multi touch, a little hard to use at first but nice to have. Macs are a little bit easier and better for multitouch.

I would rec to a friend!

This M645-4045 is a pretty good deal. But there's a better one at BestBuy for the M645-4050 for $719.00 and the difference is that you get the i5 intel processor and the hard drive comes in at 7200 rpm vs this models 5400 rpm. In addition to that is the processor is up to 2.53GHz and it comes with 12-cell lithium battery's with battery life stated at up to 10 hours! I have this M645-4050 and while the battery life is over-exaggerated somewhat and only comes close to 1/2 that if you've activated the built-in ego-Utility feature.
Other than that everything else appears to be the same. I would suggest people in the market for a laptop...look into this i5 intel processor which is a step up of the i3. That in itself is worth looking into the 4050. By the way, you get up to the 2.53GHz from what they call...the "Turbo Boost". You install a thumb storage or some kind of external memory drive into one of the USB ports and hit the Turbo Burst and Wham! You get another 2GB memory to be used for the speed, and believe me as I tried this last night and could tell the difference. In ending, I would seriously look at BestBuy for this model, the SKU # is 1006408. You will not be disappointed with the speed of this machine and the matte metal finish to help conceal finger smudges on your speed machine.

I was looking for an inexpensive laptop that had a Core I3 and over 3gig RAM to run multimedia applications. The cost to speed ratio on this laptop combined with the look and feel prevailed over its numerous shortcomings.

Pros: Love the chicklet keys, nice brushed metal feel, nice HD screen, big specs for low cost.

Cons: build is somewhat plastic and cheap, the touchpad buttons take a stupid amount of pressure to push down, noisy fan runs often, terrible battery life, major bloatware hogs resources.

I love typing on this laptop. It's by far the best typing experience I've had. I love the chicklet keys and the feel of this laptop. Watching movies on the HD display is nice. Crystal clear. Colors seem to be well represented. Compared with other laptops, the touchpad buttons take a great amount force to press down. When you have to click and drag something, it's a real pain.

The fan runs constantly and sometimes annoys me - but the heat generated on the bottom and on the hand rest is almost nil. On the inside - Speedfan shows around 40C idling at 0-3%CPU (stripped down/minus bloatware). Is that hot? Is that why the fan runs constantly even when all I'm using is this browser? Don't know.

I was extremely disappointed with CPU getting hogged up when I first got it. The processor routinely idled at 15 to 20%. 30% processor capacity while web surfing??! The bloatware on this laptop is beyond ridiculous. I would just sit and watch Task Manager CPU bounce up and down while not doing anything. I would have returned this laptop had I not had a professional (relative) wipe all the bloatware off this thing. As previous reviewer mentioned, this does not ship with a Win7 disc.

By far my biggest complaint is that the battery life is around 2.5 hours on Eco mode // less on regular mode. What is the point of a 2.5 hour lasting battery? I think they advertise 5hrs? That is just beyond stupid. Now when I go to my favorite coffee shop, I'm noticing all the people (like me) who have to hunt for outlets are people with PCs. Sucks having a new laptop and being constantly tethered to the power cord, but I'm willing to live with it.

So in summary, if I could have afforded a MacBook Pro - I would have gone that route. If you're able to wipe this baby and can tolerate low battery life, you'll have a fast machine that can handle HD video editing and a lot more for a fraction of the cost.

When I purchased this laptop, I was looking for one that would have really good battery life. It said that it would have up to 5 hours, but it hardly lasts me two hours at minimal use. I'm not too happy with it.

It's a little noisy with the fan and every time you bump it or agitate it the least bit, it makes a funny noise. I'm thinking that is just the hard drive impact but it's still a little annoying. Otherwise, it plays movies like it's magic and it's easy to use. I love this laptop and don't think I will be replacing it any time soon.

Excellent quality, solid build. Excellent display. Plays Netflix movies very well through the built-in HDMI port (not hi-def).

Only gripe is that it did not include a Win 7 disk, You have to image the system on to multiple DVDs.

A minor spill going through airport security revealed just how fragile the screen is (that in addition to being some sort of new hi-def thing that only a Toshiba depot can fix, none of their authorized service centers could help).

Then began the nightmare with Toshiba customer support, despite extended protection insurance i purchased.

This is not a suitable computer for people who actually work on the road. Great for a coffee shop in your hometown, but professionals beware.

If you value your ability to work and get fast repairs if something goes wrong, look elsewhere. I'm out thousands in lost productivity and eventual replacement when I finally threw my hands up and bought a Dell.

In fact, I consider the entire nightmare scenario as god's punishment for not sticking to Dell as I have the last 20yrs.

I will never trust my livihood to a Toshiba product ever again.
