This is the third and best Toshiba notebook PC in our family. Although others may want to focus on this notebook's limitations, I cannot overstate the value that this PC delivers for the price. Short battery life? Carry a second charged battery, or plug it in. Its larger than average screen makes it a good replacement for a desktop PC, or a college student's dorm PC as in our case. If you're looking for a smaller, lighter notebook PC with long battery life, choose another product. But if you need a reasonably priced, reliable notebook PC with multi media features and enough power to handle the typical Vista OS environment, then take a close look at this notebook PC. We are very happy with our decision.

This is outstanding value. It will take a little time to become familiar with the touchpad that is left of where I expect it. The speakers are adequate.
Great screen, good feel to the keys; fast . . . it's a terrific computer and an outright bargain. I paid $975 after the Amazon rebate.
It shipped many days before promised. Amazon and Mr Brown make a great team.

Worked for more than 1 year now, and am still excited. It never failed. 17" + light = 1-2 hours of battery power - that's the tradeoff I accepted. Enjoy.

I've had this laptop for a couple of months now and I've been very happy with it. The keyboard is full size and has a good feel, plus having the numeric keypad is a plus. The screen looks great, the sound is fine but I've heard better from HP laptops. It's hefty to haul but not unexpected from a 17" beast. I was able to snag this for [$...] from [...].

I've only rated this laptop a 4 because Toshiba's support is pitiful. The laptop doesn't come with a backup of the initial install, either on CD/DVD or on a hard drive partition, and Toshiba wanted to charge me [$...] to send a DVD with a backup on it. Everyone knows you need to reinstall Windows every year or two to clean out the junk. Toshiba makes this impossible without spending more $$$.

Also, I installed XP on this laptop (which significantly improves performance) and the drivers were difficult to find. Toshiba was (once again) useless in this regard. They were no help with any of the drivers forcing me to find them at various places on the web.

I like the ease of use of the Toshiba but would like to have a physical copy of the manual instead of one to be read on the computer. Hopefully you know how to use a computer before you buy this because the lack of written info about it can a problem. Otherwise it is a great machine.

While the Intel Chipset states it supports Direct3D, it does not; or at least it doesn't fully support it. I had one 3D manipulation program and two games I was buying this laptop for, and it CAN'T run any of them. All 3 state: 'No Supported Direct3D devices detected on this system'.

If you aren't planning to use it for 3D items, then it will probably work.

Here's to one highly disatisfied customer who has to return it with as it doesn't do the job I need it to.

Me parece un computador excelente... de verdad lo recomiendo para aquellos que necesitan un equipo bueno, a un buen precio. la calidad de la imagen es muy buena. A nivel de procesador es un equipo con el cual puede trabajarse los programas standar del mercado, ahora bien si piensa colocar programas de edicion de video profesional o multimedia profesional, recomiendo colocarle mas memoria.

Lo unico que me parecio extraño, es que la bateria no dura mas de dos horas cuando la mantengo en funcionamiento continuo, es decir, tengo programas abiertos, navego por internet, etc. pensaba que podria durar muchos mas, no obstante me parece que vale la pena.
