At 16.4 by 11.5 by 1.8 inches and 9.9 pounds, the system is considerably bulkier than today's newest ultra-lightweight notebooks. Yet it is also much more proficient. If raw power is what you crave, the Satellite P25-S670 delivers with a top-of-the-line 3.2 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor (featuring Hyper-Threading Technology and a scorching 800 MHz system bus for more efficient CPU usage) and a 512 MB alloent of DDR SDRAM memory (expandable to a whopping 2048 MB). Though the rated speed of the RAM memory is only average, there's so much of it that you can multitask to your heart's content.
Toshiba has geared the Satellite P25-S670 to keep you upgrade-free for some time. To ensure you have enough storage space for all your files and a full multimedia or music library, the system includes a huge 80 GB hard disk. Communication facilities include 802.11a/g wireless networking for those times when you can't plug in, high-speed 10/100 Ethernet LAN and an integrated 56K modem.
The bundled software package features Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition, Microsoft's Works productivity suite, and a variety of multimedia utilities. Battery life expectancy is not particularly strong at 2.0 hours from the standard Lithium Ion cell.

Please be careful before you decide to purchase this from certain Amazon.com Marketplace buyers. I have been eyeing a similar Toshiba laptop for a while now but the price is still out of reach for me and so still waiting for the price drop.Anyway, there are some "just launched" private sellers that lure you into contacting them directly by offering ridisculously low price like, say under $1000 for a brand new system, or even sometimes they mention it's in like-new condition to make it more believable I guess. They will sound really polite and encourage you to buy directly from them instead of going through the Amazon.com process, by asking you to send them the funds through Western Union, that way you will get the laptop sooner and they will even provide the shipping cost! I know because I have encountered a couple of these "sellers" here at the Amazon marketplace. I was almost tempted by the so-called great deal, then my common sense sunk in and I knew there was something wrong about it all. I didn't go through the deal, informed Amazon.com instead what these sellers were trying to do as it is against policy to sell here and not use the appropriate Amazon.com checkout process. I've heard countless others like this at another popular site, Ebay, of scams that happens everyday by sellers only accepting Western Union as payment. YOU WILL NEVER SEE YOUR MONEY AGAIN OR GET YOUR ITEM! Just be wary of "too good to be true" deals here or anywhere else for that matter. I came so close to giving my money away and never getting the laptop in return. If you don't believe this just do some research and you'll find out for yourself. Just a friendly warning from a regular Amazon.com customer (and a Marketplace seller as well).

Great toy, some minor issues,

First, buyers should know that the wireless modem will run on the same frequency as a 2.4ghz phone, which means you will frequently lose your connection through your router. I was on the phone with Toshiba for a couple of hours last night trying to correct the problem. The only solution is that I'll have to buy a new networking card, which kind of defeats the purpose of buying a computer with an intergrated wireless connectivity. It's an unnecessary hassle since Toshiba advertises this feature as being "hassle-free." Of course, I also could buy a new phone! It's an issue that those who are looking to step up to one of these new media center laptops should be aware of. Toshiba's tech support told me that the technology is so new that there's no solution for the problem just yet. Also, my previous Toshiba, the Satellite 5005, had a built-in subwoofer, this one doesn't. The sound quality is a serious step down, considering the price of the unit. Other than that, I'm having a great time learning the various bells on whistles on the unit. I just thought potential buyers should be aware of the router-phone issue.

After a short release this product was discontinued by Toshiba because of serious design problems. System board replacements to meet warranty promises were quickly depleted. Toshiba can no longer meet warranty requirements and must take parts from junked portables or return refurbished computers with a 90 day warranty that Toshiba knows they are not able to repair when they break. Toshiba is aware of this problem. Don't trust Toshiba! Toshiba Repair Depot sits on these repairs hoping for parts that are no longer made. Dead on arrival!!!
