The laptop is fast enough for what she wants (multimedia, video editing) and the battery life isn't great when in performance mode (obviously) but it has Eco mode which definitely extends the battery life into the 4 hour + range. If you're looking for a laptop that has these specs (quad core, etc) you must not care much about battery life.
If you want something with a long battery life, buy a Netbook. I am typing this on my Asus netbook which has a battery life of over 6 hours. But the performance is terrible in comparison (and I paid over $450 for this netbook)
In a nutshell, this Toshiba is a pretty awesome laptop for this price range, best I could find, and is pretty snazzy looking as well. She loves it. The performance, the looks, the fancy lighted mousepad, etc. It does great for multitasking and video editing and would be a great laptop if youre looking for a good performing, great price laptop.
It's a 5.9 windows 7 rating, if that helps anyone. And also it stays cooler than my netbook when on my lap, it is pretty amazing. I'm actually jealous, and may be buying myself a full size laptop now.
All in all I would recommend this laptop to a friend but I would suggest if you have the cash shell out for the big battery the one that comes with the box is not what is advertised.
Hey, wait, maybe I could use that to get a new battery...
She had no idea I bought this, and has done nothing but rave over how much better the Toshiba is over her old MSI. For daily processing and work, this thing kicks butt. For gaming, in her case The Sims 3, it's leaps and bounds over anything else out there. I even played a little Civ 5 on this, and it ran well.
Overall, unless you need the extra umph for video processing, you can not go wrong with the Toshiba. Excellent.
But all that aside, this machine is great.
1. I have to start by reminding you the 2.4 GHz AMD A8-3500M quad-core processor in this laptop compares nicely to the Intel Core i5. And it comes with its own dedicated graphics card. If you were to buy a machine with the same specs but with an Intel processor it would cost you more or less $800.
I'm transferring data from a Dell Studio with an Intel dual core into my new Toshiba. The difference on speed while connecting the external hard drive from one to the other just BLEW ME AWAY.
2. Finally a laptop that wont overheat on your lap. The cooling system on this laptop allows all of the heat to escape from the sides of the laptop as opposed to the bottom.
3. The 15.6-inch LED-backlit display is beautiful. Your eyes will very much appreciate the change to LED technology.
This computer comes with a Windows7 OS and that is pretty much it. Everything else it comes with is pretty much garbage.
Toshiba includes a couple of their own applications like the "Books place" or something like that. In which they claim you can read thousands of free titles. The user interface seemed very outdated so I didn't even bother browsing through it. That's pretty much the highlight.
Everything else is just "30 day trials" I had my own software for antivirus, Office and such so I completely removed the extra software from the machine before I even started using it.
All in all, I feel like I got a great deal.Read more ›
In few words I will write full review of Toshiba Satellite P755D-S5378 which includes:
1. Price versus value
3. See pictures for more information's
1.Price versus value
Price of laptop is: $662.99
Shipping price is: $13.03
Super Saver shipping: - $13.03
Sales Tax: $58.84
Total price is: $721.83
If you compare this laptop $662.99 with others laptop in same price you will find laptop have APU like Intel core i5 and core i3, but all of them have can't play game with high setting.
Don't let benchmark in the others website confuse you, my brother have laptop with core i5 but the difference in CPU performance does not matter. Because AMD Quad-Core A8-3500M never goes up to 60%.
