Outstanding Conference Room Projector,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Toshiba TDP-TW420U Conference Room Projector (Office Product)
What a great projector! I bought the TDP-TW420U from Amazon in December of 2008. I needed a projector for a talk I was to present in May of this year (2009). My talk was a PowerPoint talk of 89 slides. I was intrigued by the feature of this projector that allows you to convert your PPT file to one that can be copied to a USB flash memory stick, and then that new file can be executed from the projector's USB port, using the projector's wireless remote control. No computer needed! The projector comes with a JPEG conversion program, which worked just fine (although it took a while to convert 89 slides). The resulting file was then copied onto a SanDisk 4GB Micro Cruzer USB stick, and that worked great in the projector. The projector also comes with an excellent carrying case, so the projector and the small memory stick are all you have to transport to your host site (assuming a screen is provided). Actually, this projector is so bright (4K lumens) that it easily projects onto almost any wall or surface, in the absence of a screen.
If you plan fancier presentations with software other than PowerPoint, including animation, simulation, and/or audio-video files, then you'll have to hook up your computer to the projector, but that is easily done with cabling, some of which is included. The wireless remote control is very complete, allowing for almost all of the projector's numerous functions, including a built-in laser pointer and control of a screen cursor if needed. In fact, there are so many "buttons" on the remote that most of them have - of necessity - been made rather small. If you have big fingers then that's a slight inconvenience, but otherwise the remote is quite advanced technically. As the name "Conference Room Projector" implies, this is a really high-level professional projector. It has tremendous capabilities, most of which I have yet to explore. But what else would one expect from Toshiba! Every Toshiba product I've ever owned has worked great. If you have extensive presentation requirements then this is the projector for you. And, incidentally, the talk (slide show) I gave with it in May was a total success!
