Toshiba 8 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive

I bought this drive when Amazon offered it in the Gold Box for $8 and it is definitely worth it. I know that there has been some criticism of this drive for not having a cap or it's clean design. Neither of these points bother me and they certainly do not impact the performance of the drive. Put simply, if you're reading customer reviews because you want to know how well the drive performs, keep reading. If you're more concerned about a "pretty" drive, this isn't the review for you.

So far the drive has lived up to its selling points. I have three machines on Windows 7, one on Vista Premium and a netbook on Windows XP. I didn't have any problems using the drive with any of my machines. I am an avid photographer and I used several large photo files as well as some home videos to test this drive. File transfers to and from the drive were as fast as I've seen with other flash drives costing more. It really is a speedy little drive. This is also a good drive for ReadyBoost.

I've only had this drive for a couple of days and cannot make any claims as to long term reliability just yet but I've had good luck with other Toshiba products.

This worked perfectly and I encountered no problems when using it. Sturdy, quick, convenient plug and play and comes with a user manual if you do happen to have any problems/questions. I used it on two computers, one with Windows 7 and one with Vista and it worked on both.

This is a great fast drive. I especially like the retractable USB connector so there is no cap to misplace. The USB connector slides in and out easily with your thumb. Easy to transfer files from laptop to laptop/PC. Unfortunately, I many versions of Windows on various computers, and so networking them is difficult and frustrating. The USB drive is great for simply moving around files like pictures. There is also a small hole in the side to put a string through so you can hang it on a keychain. The product is made in Taiwan.

Toshiba flash drives have always been fast and dependable, comparable to PNY. They don't come with lousy pre-loaded software that gets in the way of a serious computer nerd

I love the toshiba flash drives i have baught so far. i especially love the stilletto stile retractable USB input. no cap to get lost. 4 gigs gives you almost a DVD size storage, and it's a great price

This flash drive is a nice drive with no real issues. Much like every other flash drive available, it's very compact, although the method in which the usb connection extends and retracts is a plus.

Unlike some of those drives with the spring, "clicker pen" trigger or cap cover that probably gets lost within the first week of use, this drive's usb connection opens and closes with the simple move of your thumb, gentling pressing it up and down curteosy of that slider button shown in the product photo. There is no resistance from the product when performing that simple procedure, so you dont have to strain your muscles or worry about breaking it when you open or close.

Information loads to it quickly and easily and it installs automatically upon pc connection without any significant delays or issues. It functions like it is supposed to and in the world of flash drives, thats really all there is to it.

In a world where this kind of product is only grouped into "it works" or "it doesnt work" categories, it fits into the former. The drive does what it is expected to do. Not sure how you can go wrong with that, unless you find a similar drive with more storage for a better price.

I like the retractable feature of this flash drive. It provides protection and you don't have to keep track of the cap that many flash drives have.

I had originally purchased this USB flash drive to use it as a dedicated drive for Readyboost. Found out that it's much too slow. Luckily, a no-name flash drive I purchased before was able to be used for Readyboost and I relegated this drive for moving large files between my computers.

If all you want to do is move larger files, than this may work for you. Just don't expect speed.

This works fine with my MacBook Pro (Fall 2009 with Snow Leopard). It is just plug and play. Previously i had 2gb drives. This one does have a spot to connect a key ring or similar. I don't like that the USB plug just retracts with no cover. If you toss this drive in a pocket or pocketbook, link or dirt could easily get into this area. I would have liked a small light to indicate when the drive is active. I have that on the 2gb (other brands). It's a boring (or professional) black color. I would give it 4 stars if the USB plug were protected.

I got this at 10 bucks and it works just like a flash drive should. Highly recomended to anyone looking for a reliable flash drive!
