Although the W412 is a mono VCR, it is a perfect compliment to smaller TVs anywhere in your house.

Getting started with the W412 is easy. The VCR will automatically program all available TV channels into memory, and set the clock the first time you plug it in. The onscreen menu allows you to refine the setup by setting recording preferences and preferred channels. The multilingual menu lets you control the W412 in your choice of English, French, and Spanish.

The W412 gives you a number of search options while viewing a videotape. In addition to the standard, high-speed fast-forward and reverse viewing choices, you can use the double-speed playback feature to fine-tune your search for the exact spot where your prerecorded show begins. A slow-motion feature can cut the playback to 1/15th of the normal speed, if you want to challenge a referee's call in a game that you taped earlier. With Toshiba's memory stop function, you can bookmark a spot on the tape so you can automatically return to the beginning of a show in the middle of the tape. The W412 also features still picture and frame-by-frame advance modes.

The timer feature on the W412 allows you to program up to six shows at a time. You can also quickly set the VCR to record when you are planning to go out by selecting a recording start time of up to four hours later. Last-minute recording is simplified as well with a one-touch, instant recording option. A universal remote is also included to fully operate your Toshiba VCR as well as your TV.

The Toshiba W412 is a 4-head mono VCR with a full line of convenient features. The W412 features the company's breakthrough V3 chassis/flying pre-amp design plus a host of performance and convenience features such as a 4-head video system, icon-based on-screen programming, and more.

The W412 features digital tracking for clear VHS playback, extended data service with auto clock set, auto setup with channel memory, and one-touch record for instant recording. A 181-channel tuner, a preprogrammed universal remote, and high-speed rewind/fast-forward add convenience to the key features of the W412.

All of Toshiba's full-size hi-fi VCRs utilize the revolutionary V3 chassis, which includes a unique flying pre-amp design for superior audio and video performance. Does not cost too much & is a Great value.Lasts for quite awhile with no problems,no eating tapes or anything. I love this goody :)

This is an excellent VCR from TOSHIBA. I saw one of these while shopping. Visiting audio and video stores with the kids is still a regular weekend pastime with us. This machine replays VHS tapes giving one of the best pictures I have seen lately. The picture was very good. The color alignment looked good on the Panasonic Super-flat TV and especially the Sony Wega TV sets. Resolution was excellent. Usually a good TV set makes VHS tapes look bad. That was not the case here. This is a linear audio machine only, which means no HiFi and no stereo. However, what makes this VCR stand out is its picture. It has 4 video heads, not the standard 2 usually found on non- HiFi units. 4 video heads records and delivers a superior picture. So, if you do a lot of recording this is an excellent VCR. You don't have to pay a lot to get a good picture.

I bought this because I needed a cheap VCR and it has not disappointed. It is a no frills, base model that does it's job.
I read the book first when I got it and then went on from there. It is easy to set up and program.
My only quam is when you program to record when you pick the start and finish time for need to scroll thru the time and not just punch in the #'s. It is not a big problem, but something Toshiba should think about when making the new one. This is not a problem that would keep me from buying this VCR.

Good for the $!
