ALL his hits are here ! This is a VERY good Bobby Lewis collection!,
This review is from: Tossin' & Turnin' [Collectables] (Audio CD)
In the summer of 1961 Bobby Lewis had the #1 song on the pop chart,
"Tossin' and turnin'" it stayed on the chart for 23 weeks. Before it fell off he had another hit on the chart with "One track mind" top 10 hit in the fall of that same year. Then in November was released yet a 3rd song in 1961, but it failed to get much interest and "What a walk" falled to have much chart success in 1961. Lewis tried to get good air play again the next summer with a simaliar song, "I'm tossin' and turnin' again", but it barely broke into the top 100 in 1962. That was his last song to chart. Those 4, and their b-sides are on this 18 track collection. 1. "Tossin' and turnin'" b/w "Oh yes, I love you" -- 1961 2. "One track mind" b/w "are you ready" -- 1961 3. "What a walk" b/w "Cry no more" -- 1961 4. "I'm tossin' and turnin' again" b/w "Nothin' but the blues" -- 1962 These 18 tracks reflect some fun/silly, happy carefree days. All original recordings.

Basic but high-quality collection,

This review is from: Tossin' & Turnin' (Audio CD)
This collection of Bobby Lewis' Beltone recordings comes from the now-defunct Relic label, once a prolific issuer of mostly Doo-Wop groups' recordings. While there are few bells and whistles here, the primary attribute is the sound quality - the CD having been reconstructed, mixed and edited by the renowned Walter DeVenne.
All four of Lewis' charting singles, headed up by "Tossin' and Turnin' and "One Track Mind", are here along with thirteen other Beltone tracks. Many of the tracks appear in stereo (tracks 3,6,13 and 16 being the exceptions) and were taken, when possible, from the original master tapes. While the liner notes booklet does not have the polish of the big-name reissue houses, it does offer a biographical sketch on Lewis' musical career. When all is said and done, the audio quality is what matters most in these reissues and for that, no apologies are necessary here. This piece deserves a place in the music library of both the collector and casual fan alike.
