Biography

The Radiators are a rock band from New Orleans, Louisiana. They were a quintet formed in 1978 and still retain all their original members.

The quintet successfully combined the traditional musical styles of their native city -- Cajun, Zydeco, and blues -- with classic rock and R&B influences to form a decidedly Southern, energetic variety of swamp-rock they call “fish-head music.”

4.0 out of 5 stars Soulful and deep indeed, July 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Total Evaporation (Audio CD)
A very good and underappreciated album. Though not quite as consistent as Law of the Fish, the Rads major label debut, the best tracks here are about as good as the Rads ever get. Their combination of greasy blues rock, New Orleans second-line funk, and Memphis soul (can anyone say Stax) never sounded as good as on the best tracks here. Everything Gets in the Way could easily have been a classic 60's soul hit, and You Can't Take It With You is absoultely smoking good time rock that needs to be turned up to eleven, as Nigel Tufnel would say. Molasses is a beautiful acoustic tune, and other stand-outs are Let the Red Wine Flow, Honey from the Bee, Total Evaporation, and Soul Deep... Party 'Till the Money Runs Out is a fun tune that rides a Mardi Gras groove similar to Iko Iko that makes you want to do exactly what the tiltle says. There's a bit of filler here: A Grain of Salt and Good As Gone don't amount to much, but overall its a very strong record.
