4.0 out of 5 stars Writting is easy and brief. Does not explain well how to draw the Lo Shu chart
This book is basically the same idea of her hard cover book " The illustrated Encyclopedia of Feng Shui", but is written shortly and briefly. It is easy to read and understand, but may be too brief for some of the beginner and not deep enough for advanced reader. Especially when talking about Flying Star, there is no specific explanation about how to draw a chart of Lo...

2.0 out of 5 stars Hard to Follow
Hard to follow advice. I found The Idiots Guide to Feng Shui to be more useful. Sorry I couldn't be more positive. I received this book as a gift and will use it as a reference, but I can't recommend it to anyone as a guide.

4.0 out of 5 stars A well organized, easy to read book for those with some knowledge of feng shui, December 8, 2008
This review is from: Total Feng Shui: Bring Health, Wealth, and Happiness into Your Life (Paperback)
I own this book and find it very helpful. You need a basic understanding of the concept of feng shui, time,a good compass and an open mind as well as graph paper. I also own other feng shui books but they do not go into the explanation of the origins or talk about why certain directions are inharmonious. This book does both. She makes a distinct difference between space clearing and space cleaning which is important and not well addressed in other books of this nature that I have read. I found the parts on The Grand Jupiter and The Flying Star extremely interesting and am doing more research on those. I would recommend this book for an amateur to novice level reader. The first evening I read it, I did 3 simple things and within 24 hours had a welcome end to a long dispute, good financial news and my "tweenager"s attitude toward studying did a quick turn around. Interesting reading and well written. I would reccommend this book for someone who is looking to study feng shui not just a quick fix. Although it is amazing what simple changes can help to manifest!

I really liked this book. It's not really for beginners, but it can be used by a beginner. The writing is clear, the pictures and graphics are easy to understand and all the reference charts are included. I liked it enough to give a copy as a gift to a friend.

4.0 out of 5 stars This book is great!!!, May 29, 2009
This review is from: Total Feng Shui: Bring Health, Wealth, and Happiness into Your Life (Paperback)
This book is as general and as easy feng shui can get!!!! It has all the basics and is very easy to follow! The back of the book has a glossary of all the good luck symbols & things you can use for different remedies. The beginning of the book is general basics' then it goes on to the different directions (north, ne, nw, south' se...) some work and love feng shui etc.

I can't see why someone would think this book is hard to follow!

2.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work for me!, December 31, 2006

I read this book in early August '06 and tried most of the tips from this book: from a crystal globe at East, wind chime, jade peach tree, crystal lotus, dragon tortoise, pair of mandarin ducks, flying geese, dragon/phoenix, mystic knot, and double fish, etc). None of them work for me as of today, the last day of 2006! Some suggestions are good to know to avoid certain condition though. I didn't know not to sit by giving my back at the door and windows at work. There would be not support for my back. It was very true but too late to know that.

I read some FS books, including Lillian Too's Easy-To-Use Feng Shui For Love: 168 Ways To Happiness--Enhance Your Relationships Energize Your Friendships, Maximize Your Love Potential and became confused. In her book, Lillian Too mentioned that to hang a 6-rod wind chime at NW of home and bedroom. Some FS books argued that wind chime is not good for keeping in the bedrooms. There are two groups of FS masters so it's up to you to follow which book you are reading.

Honestly, none of the FS tips work for me. I don't see any improvement with FS but maybe avoid certain bad positions. It was very interesting to learn FS but some tips cost pretty much, especially when you purchase those FS products on-line. Save your $$$ and read FS books from library if you are interested in FS. One of the book is very entertaining, "Move your stuff, change your life" by Karen Rauch Carter, available here at amazon Move Your Stuff, Change Your Life : How to Use Feng Shui to Get Love, Money, Respect and Happiness. Karen's tips are easy to follow with your existing things and not very Chinese-ish like Lillian Too's. Good if you live in the West. Only good thing is FS helped me to clear stuff (clusters) in my room and rearranged by "Bagua". But again, none of them practically works for me as of today!
